I really don't like the ascii, not because of it being ascii, just have different preferences to how I like my ascii served.

My favourate tileset is the Gold plated set, but seeings as it hasn't been updated for the current version(and im too scared to attempt adding it myself to the current version, incase DF or I explode), I am using Phobeus, which i'm finding I enjoy too, but I do miss Gold Plated :(

None. I don't think tilesets enhance the game in any way, and in some cases make it worse when they overload the game with pointless detail. See Mayday and every damn rock being a heavily detailed boulder.

I prefer the clean and simple vanilla appearance.
This.

I can't even tell what I am looking at when somebody posts screenshots of his tileset-fubared fortress.

My main issue with the default is it's not square.  So... anything that is square.

I've been using Mayday since 40d.  It would be hard for me to go back to vanilla now

Same here. I actually tried to switch from a simple tileset to such a graphics set once..

Gave me a similar feeling as when I played vanilla DF for the first time. As in I sat there staring at the screen for a while trying to make sense of it.

Then I closed the game, deleted the whole folder and re-installed vanilla DF.

Either the original or Phoebus. Phoebus (which I probably mispelt) adds a bit of colour and stuff to the game, and makes everything square, instead of an out of proportion rectangle. And it doesn't mess up writing. Granted I haven't tested that many other tilesets.

I've been experimenting with tilesets since TTF came in, and out of the 3 major tilesets, I like ironhand and mayday. I'm not so much a fan of phoebus. I don't like the icons on the rock, for one. immersion-breaking. I can use 'k' to see what a rock is.

I used to use Phobeus, which is a great tileset, but I find myself using Ironhand now, mainly because I couldn't get phobeus working with genesis mod.

I also like Ironhand, I am using the current version with TTF support, even if there are a few glitches and problems, the water more than makes up for it.

Yeah, the ironhand water is beautiful.
