It seems "Cotton Candy" is the lingo for adamantine. I had been wondering that myself.

Ah, got it - renamed.

I guess the thing to do now is:

1. Savescum,
2. Spend the next ten years building up a huge army,
3. Take them down there and either:
4a. Wipe that [redacted] from the face of the underground and claim the sword for my own, or,
4b. Die in a horrible miasma-filled catastrophic battle.

And the great thing about this game is, in either case, the result will be wonderful.

What are the odds on finding them anyway? I only managed to ever 'find' one, and that was because the parameters and site had been told about. I can never find them in my own worlds :(

Every region tile has exactly one of these. That's one in every set of 16x16 local tiles.

Oh wow, that is one seriosuly guarded super-sword.

Time the spread the rumor that the Dwarf the recovers this Ultimate Weapon shall be crowned King. Although maybe not for long given all the zombies and forgotten beasts guarding the thing.

Effectively, its so that someone reading the forums knows its a spoiler.  Plus, it's more fun that way.

I don't really know why it's called that way, most of the cotton candy I've eaten was pink, though most other candies that were "cotton candy flavored" have been light blue.

Think of the steps in processing it from what you find underground to anything usable.

Once you get rid of the undead, deconstruct the awesome sword for a dwarf to take it.

Adamantine is not really a spoiler anymore.

It's on the forge/craftshop/jobs list (and maybe manager screen) from the start of the game these days.

Yeah, but how you can find it and what you find under it is still a bit of a spoiler.

As for why it's called cotton candy, back in 40d someone mentioned a mod that added clowns to the Hidden Fun Squad in one thread. For whatever reason, the association between Hidden Fun Stuff and the circus theme took hold of the forums and never really let go.
