"Found an egg already?" He says in surprise.

"Just get ready for the flight down, I don't want anything following me back." you say, and then mutter the bare back spell.

You give Lanua directions to your hut from there, and land.

"So, this is it I guess, at least, for a while." you say, a bit of remorse in your voice.

"Hmm. I'll come back if you call me, but I won't actually help you unless you have something to give me of value. I am above gold as you have found out."

You rub your hand smoothly across the curved line on your right fore arm. Indeed he is. Lanua flies away, and you are left standing in front of your hut, holding an egg.

No! Do you know how uncomfortable riding on nothing but a spinal column would be? We should dabble in air and earth magic. Then we can have a dragon that can shoot lightening and move the earth. Not to mention high defence and speed/agility.

As opposed to hard scales? We already have shown we have magics to help us ride and quite frankly shooting bolts of black soul death is way cooler then fire and what not.

Why I suggested we concentrate on wind and earth, pull up the earth to make a rock wall to protect us and shoot lightening instead of fireballs. And scales are at least uniform and mostly smooth, not spikey like the bones would be, since a skeletal dragon doesn't have any flesh to provide a cushion/barrier between our bumm and the bones.
