Do be advised that he's in a very different timezone (Australia, I think), which, regardless of how lurky he is or isn't, may put a bit of a damp on the furious, agile interchange. But I make no objections.

I like option 1, with the rules making it explicit that trying that sort of crap is against the rules.

Alternatively, you must post your PM when lynched before firin' your laser.

It may be too late now, but... how about taking this one step further? I suggest the following rule: "When you are dead, you must post your true role PM, vengekill if appropriate, and stop posting". This covers all cases, alignments or phases of the game, and, as there's no night actions, will let players keep running though day two unhindered and without waiting for the Mod.

Example:
- Player A hammers Player B.
- Player B says "It's a fair cop, I'm scum", and posts his role PM.
- Players A,C,D&E can move straight into day 2 and keep voting each other.
- Player C votes D, A votes D, D is hammered.
- Player D posts "dumbasses, I'm town!" and posts his role PM.
- Players A, C & E move straight to day 3.
- Players C&E hammer A.
- Player A says "dumbasses! I'm town too!", posts his role PM.
- Player E says "Yeah suckers! woohoo! B & I win!"
- Player C hangs himself in shame.

All this without needing to wait at any point. The Mod of course will come regularly, update vote counts, confirm the roleflips and days and so on, but the game needn't wait for him at any point. As long as the role PMs are honest (and it says so in the rules), people can keep going! Ain't that great?

Could work.  The biggest problem will be if someone misses a hammer.  Hopefully it won't happen with such a small game, but it's a possibility.  All sorts of fun is likely to ensure.

I don't think it'll have much of an effect unless the game gets very active, however it is possible I might cause this to slow down a little.
