Duradbesmar is actually very well designed to be protected against column attacks. It can't be attacked like Abaloddom was. Abaloddom has gotten a lot of rebuild that makes it much tougher against column attacks too. It still requires a lot more work than it has right now, but it is much, much more tougher.

I got clarification from F0lak on cave supports.

ALL walls provide 1 tile of support.

Wood supports provide 2.

Pillars provide 3.

Pillars need HP in line with other stone structures, doublely so because they're the most stable structure in caves.

The reason I thought brick held up more was because there was secretly rock walls underneath the walls.

I think Brick and rock should hold up more. F0lak says it only holds 1 because the ground isn't as integrated. I've been attempting to change his mind. It makes sense that there could be some simple supports in stone walls that is at least as good as a wood one. Especially since it takes more stone than they give to build a wall.

If stone pillars provide 3 Urists of support, you could put a pillar behind a wall, and it'd still be enough to support a 2 tile area outside the wall. It's not a structural weakness either.

It is however 3x3 of space purely for support. That's more room than I want to dedicate to supports in most cases.

Also, we have had to re-key Abaloddom. If you log on and there's no one around to give you a key, sorry, you'll have to wait until one of us is.

On a related note...
Mikeche attacked the fort, killed all the pillars. The design causes a LOT of caveins since it had so few real walls.

Ok wow, I registered only to see how ogranized you guys really are, and you are fonominal. But I did not destroy anything, and what fort are you talking kogan? I never destroyed any pillars, infact i never wanted to fight with you guys at all. I really saught out peace. Only until then we started attacking each other, the real conflicts and blame began to spread around. Do not blame me for anything, have the time i am never on and the other half i was busy building on to Eksadus. Really you need to stop using my name for everything that happens to you because its really not my fault, there are other players that play the game and some jealous of our acomplishments. Please stop blasting my name and blaming me for everything that happens to you you because it is really not my fault Kogan.Really i have nothing against you all besides destroying my home ((IC)). I actually adore how sucessful you all are. I do not do vandilism on hazordhu becuase i know what it is like to build something and then have destroyed ((my race is settlian btw) Last wipe i had another city Called Middenheim, It was flourshing and had lots of people.We even had our own banks and currency system going on.But back then you needed totems and briock walls were weak.So during that time orcs raided the hell outta of my city. So much that there was charcoal literaly everywhere. But good work bay12dwarves. You are truly  sucessful, intelligent and organized beings.Only wish i could have been a dwarf so i wouldn't have to deal with so much mayhem. Also who ever destroyed Eksadus, that was really shocking and gay at the same time since no one was online ot defend it.
