Respawning people ruins immersion. I've killed Micheal several times, by now.

Eventually it'll be done with Offspring Penguin. In which case me and Nenjin are set, but the rest of you are in trouble ;)

The orc that's setting flargl eggs thinks Nenjin is cute. I don't know whether to be alarmed or impressed with her trans-species appreciation of beatufy.

Rawr! That be my man!
That orc shîmbil be goin' down!

 ;)

On a more serious note, The orc bought the eggs, and the person she bought the eggs from was someone who promptly killed her when she was planting on Gulnas Abaloddom, because she attacked the person with her.

So, the whole situation has a barrel of Lulz.

I'm sorry I accidentally started a war. Would've happened anyway, though.

It's been building. I think the real last straw was my striking Archy at the East Gate. But hey, that's our policy. You break down our doors, I don't care what you're reason is, there's dwarven justice to be had.

I just think it's funny. There's no one on the island in force except us and Eskandus. Two humans in winter stealth clothes burn the Port. Who else is it going to be? Yet Michael insists it wasn't his people. Yeah, right. Then why did everyone I kill today make for the south like it was the only safe place they could go?

Can't you get the admins to move your spawn point to the fort? We could just build several layers of walls and lock ourselves in if we could spawn in the fort.

No, for several reasons.

A) They'd be catering to us specifically.

B) Where you spawn has a large impact on the penalty associated with your death. For just about everyone, it's a long ass boat ride back to Abalaoddom, spawning on an island with very few resources atm. Where spawn points are is a large part of balance. The orcs, for example, pretty much rule their island where they spawn. So when every they go out into the world to cause trouble, they don't have an obnoxious ride back. The human race does, as of right now, if they leave Newlands. Ever notice you never see Orcs on Newlands? That's why. They know they'd just get bum rushed.

C) Having a spawn point inside our fort would mean every Northerner character could spawn inside our fort.

D) Having a spawn point inside our fort sets up the situation where you'd just have wave after wave of dwarf diving into combat. That'd be the issue even with the spawn point outside on the continent. A good 5 to 10 minute break in between combat tends to cool people's jets and thirst for combat. Usually.

Death is pretty much a) a time sink and b) occasionally a kick in the ass when you get stuck. It's pretty meh in it's current form, and will be until permadeath is introduced, and characters stand to lose something from death other than just replaceable gear.

We could lock ourselves in our fort as it is, and let them just throw themselves at our walls, popping out occasionally to reinforce walls or add more. But I don't want to hole up and be besieged. Lots of people have found they're not interested in developing the fort. They'd rather explore, hunt, ect...so while walling ourselves in is an option, it's not my favorite. Plus there's only one way new players could get into the fort (unless the admins are willing to do us some serious favors,) and making an opening for them invalidates the defense.

Plus, does anyone really want to walk out one day and see the whole of Gulnas Abaloddom covered by a massive human settlement? I don't.

Plus plus, I'm sure some loony would take a 6-deep tower wall as a challenge.

PS- Eskandus (or whatever they're going to call it now that they're god has abandoned them), has expanded a good 40% in side along the south wall. It's all open turf inside the new construction. They probably plan on building some massively ridiculous defense. Because they had redundant amounts of housing the last time I was inside.

Bah, damn humans stole my idea, probably the ones that saw me experimenting with it.
