Currently trying to find metal to make nails to build a boat to the mountainhome. I think I see the remnants of the bridge, so I'll use it for direction once I finally find metal.

Are we at war with the Gorge Tribe anymore?

Yes. We are very much at war with every orc tribe.

Speaking of war, what do we want our uniform to be?

I suggest a tabard colored 36, 60, 56, or a hood and belt colored the same.

I wonder if flargl leather armor is good versus all weapons...

Interesting data about armor and weapons, by the way, i've been wondering about that for a while.
I think that once my fort is up and running, i'll come and help you with the war, with whoever end up rallying me, but first i'd like to know if there will be a wipe or not, and when, because i'm not going to build anything if its all wiped tomorrow. Any info on that ?

Edit : It could be interesting to train our combat skills with empty handed duels (sparring basically). This was proposed before but i never saw anyone training. I think that empty hands is the least damaging "weapon". It could be combined with wearing plate armor to reduce even more the damage.

To duel, you just delete the channel text (OOC, Say, Whisper...) and write "duel" instead. I never tried but it is supposed to open a window asking who you want to duel among the people nearby, and to replenish your HP when you stop the duel (i think you just write "duel" again for that).

Also, it could prove valuable training to go hunting aggressive animals and monsters. I've seen a player take down a troll alone, mounted on a bux, with some kind of harassing technique, and i bet he's better than us at pvp.

It's sad but a reset is coming. It does give a good RP excuse to migrate and cements our position in the history more.

If the reset goes to plan I should be able to help build much of the day. I'm looking forward from being there from near the start.

Due to a change in schedule, I will be available all day tomorrow and Sunday most likely.  I'm up for helping the new establishments.  Though I do have a question- are we wiping the RP as well?  Keeping the backstories, but beginning anew our relations with the orc tribes...  or are we assuming we're all descendants of the former Dwarves/Orcs?

I'm starting to get half torn on this game. It seems like there's a brick of Orc players who basically live to irritate people in a non-RP fashion, and it just kind of gets hand waved. I know some rules changes are supposed to rebalance things but....I dunno. At some point I'm left asking "what's the point" if it's just a daily grind of running around the fort, finding an orc has done something, and repairing the damage.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying a lot of the game. It just seems like, by design, when you get down to it, either you're there to do purely RP, or you're there to cause trouble. It doesn't feel like there's much of a middle ground.

Oh well. Maybe after this update we can actually go on the offensive instead of basically being a punching bag for orc players who like to do stuff when no one is around to stop them.

We could always set up a bit of wall that's defended by a totem, unless that doesn't work on the mainland.

It doesn't, which is the problem.  Our fort is the only one that can be damaged, while Orcs and Human areas are relatively invincible.

Duradbesmar had a massive attack, with only a few hidden dwarves surviving. What killed it was first orcs came, they killed us all because we suck at fighting (It's true. Sad, but true)
Then we did a running battle with them on the archipelago.
Then when it was over, HUMANS came in and started destroying the place.
It was repairable until the humans arrived.

Now, here's a bit of knowledge from the game's history
Quote
The Orcs were the bastardized offspring of the Elves. Their race was formed when a sect of the Elves known as the Crying Order left their kin and embarked on a journey across the land. On their journey, they encountered a creature who was yet unknown to them. In retaliation to this unanticipated intrusion upon their territory, these creatures attacked the Crying Order. Vile deeds were done to the prisoners of these creatures. A woman named Orcia escaped from her captors and, with a small number of other fugitives, began work to seek out revenge on these creatures. The creatures, known as Trawls, waged war on the descendants of Orcia, who called themselves Orces, and later Orcs.
So, the orcs came when Trolls raped the elves.

Quote
The Humans were the youngest race. They are an offshoot of the Elf Hyu Mannus, and his mate. Mannus was an outcast in Elf society, as he could not use magic. It was for this reason that Mannus and his mate left the Elven Kingdom and chose to travel to the Great Sea and live out their days there. Over time, the children of Mannus formed their own civilization and culture, which evolved into the Human race as is known in Hazordhu today.
So humans came about from a elf who couldn't use magic.
I think it's because it is a dwarf-elf hybrid.

Therefore, Humans are the result of decadent dwarves, orcs are the result of raped elves. They are ALL elf bloods though, and therefore they are ALL bad.

The ones who destroyed our fort? Joe Proctor and a friend of his.
Joe came into the fort when I believe it was Garf said he was an ally due to the orc fight.
So the guy who came in under the principle of helping us was the worst kind of traitor.
He opened up areas that were still well fortified while our backs were turned.

In future forts, we shouldn't even fight alongside humans.

A server wipe has happened. I am going to be re-founding Duradbesmar back where it was attacked.

Same Byond key, different name and Sex.
I want to have NPC children help us defend. If I gotta change my Byond sex to do it, so be it.

Walls also have more hit points too. Used to be the reinforced wall had 1500 Hit points. Now it's got 50000

It's not the invincibility of their towns that is the problem. It is, and will continue to be so, our crappy combat skills. I know how to fight, having been taught by one of the admins. Let's spread it around.

(Edit: Some of you remember when I was RPing having a dream. I met a human there who talked a whole shitload about our RP. He kept bashing it in character. I also found a note in our temple that had his EXACT SAME MANNER OF SPEECH prior to this. At the time I ran into him, I thought it was widespread. He's one of the few that plays like we are all crazy humans though. So anyway, guess who was part of the destruction party? Furthermore, all of the orcs I met and talked to ooc (most of them admins) deny destroying our doors. Guess what? I think the culprit is this human. Remember, there was this note left in our temple that day, and I had to repair doors all over the place that day. I believe that this human is also the random pyromaniac that has been running around lose. Our problem isn't the orcs, I don't think. I always thought it odd that our west gate was always destroyed but never our north gate, even though I met way more orcs at the north gate than the west gate.)
