Hm... In my explorations I found something interesting.  A cave by the shore, very large on the inside.  No mining, but a large open space broken into smaller spaces by flowing streams (it being Shiverstide, they were frozen and I could walk around as I pleased).  There were a lot of rats inside (or rets, whatever, somehow I can't accept the idea of making a "new" word by changing one or two letters and calling it "original"), as well as at least one big purple Flargl.  It's dangerous, but big and spacious and begging to have something cool done with it.  Only problem is there doesn't seem to be any metal in there, only boulders.  Maybe if I look around outside I'll find some metal to work with.  The area in general seems pretty dangerous - aside from the flargl I saw some of those bear-man creatures (forget what they're called).  I need to get myself a better weapon and maybe some better armor...  Or at least a quiver so I can shoot them down from my boat.

Well I managed to kill off the Rars with a boat and sheer luck and explored the rest of this island, but there's definitely no metal around that I can see.  Hm.... What do you all think?  Will I be able to create everything I need without metal?  There are plenty of trees...  The main problem is nails of course.  So many buildings require nails...  I wonder if there's another island nearby where I can find metal?  Perhaps it's time to go further exploring!

Most of the masonry stuff (which is better quality anyway) doesn't need metal. Just the detailed wood construction stuff.

Biggest obstacle when lacking nails is you can't build chests or carts. You can work around that somewhat by building lots of bags instead, which only require threads but are a pain to use.

if you imported 100 ores you could probably make all the metal you'll need for chests and carts.

Does your island have clay? If it does, you are set.

Nope, no clay.  I'll have another look around the cave later - I did a quick job before because I was worried the flargl might notice me, and the little rats were slowly working my health down so I started dodging them rather than killing them with my axe.

Proposed proposed origins story for our dwarves:
Ref: The cannon history of Hazordhu

Quote
Nobody is quite sure where the dwarves originally came from. Some say that they split off from elves when they were trapped underground. others claim they came from Human stock that grew shorter and more hairy. Some claim they are descended from orcs. Ask a dwarf and he insists that the elves grew from the perverted amongst their kind. Regardless of where they came from, they ended up sailing off with the humans when the scourge of damnation came about. Eventually racial cohesion was lost entirely, and they were absorbed by the mass of humanity. Slowly humanity lost respect for them, and racial oppression became the norm. The very name they called themselves, Dorf, became a insult amongst the humans. After some time, a strong leader arouse and rallied the dwarves. They set sail for the mainland, to be free of racial discrimination. They found a grand mountain and settled there, welcoming dwarves who were fleeing from humanity. They named their city "The Fortress of Beardpully" in the dwarf language.

If you all can agree with this, we can go ahead and send it at their community. If they accept it, then our story is immortalized and we can get down to Beardpully history.

Warning!!!

A man named Shinsuke came with our buddy dwarf and pretended to be a dwarf. After that when he was asked to leave the fortress he started to shoot people. He was eventually killed. Be careful, don't let him in!!!

Also he's crazy, or probably just around 6 years old. You will see it by his crazy acts.

P.S. His BYOND key is Yugitayo8.

By the way, guys, there's a small stone house directly west of the Fort, across the small lake. The place is not abandoned and I happen to reside there, so please don't tear it down!

The orcs are the bigger threat there Duelmaster. We'll do our best to restrain ourselves. You should be fine since we got better things to do, but them orcs? Yea.

Sounds good to me. Looks like it fits in fine with the rest of Hazordhu history.

Ah, so that's where I've been stealing the stone from :P You might want to trade some of that stone with Duradbesmar, we've mined out and paved over all our stone. Oh, and you'll be right near some orcs and trolls, and have to worry about that a bit.

I got bored and took a ride around the Mainland. Found something interesting... a cave blocked out by some trees, thought it would be a big underground cave, but turned out to be more of a maze. It's a long series of 2 tile wide diggable areas. Just hope it doesn't cave in while I'm exploring it.

EDIT: Well, explored the whole place. The exit is somewhere I'm familiar with, near the fortress, so it was a bit pointless. I did get hit by a few vicious creatures. Barely survived, ran really fast to lose them, only to die of cold just outside  :-\
