Well, Morrowind(unfortunately not Oblivion*) had glass weapons and armor, though damned if I know how or why that's practicaly.

I've got Tatooboard a pig iron short sword.
This is a pig iron short sword. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. This item menaces with spike of dog leather. On the item is an image of Cusith Frogshell the human in pig iron. Cusith Frogshell is traveling. The artwork relates to the journey of Cusith Frogshell to The Barbed Fissure in 161 during The Third Journey of the human Cusith Frogshell. On the item is an image of the ùshrir Axepack the dwarf and dwarves in pig tail fiber. ùshrir Axepack is surrounded by the dwarves. The artwork relates to the ascension of the dwarf ùshrir Axepack to the position of queen of The Deified Road(our civ) in 187.

There's also Pastworks, an iron buckler. No art, but it's encrusted with jelly opal and encircled in bands of iron. And The Permanence of Curiosity(dog bone left gauntlet, no decorations) and Lastwomen(oh jeez) the cave spider silk toga(decorated with CS silk, bands of giant toad leather, and an image of dwarves in white chalcedony).

*Explainable by the fact that the "glass" they used was mined volcanic glass possibly unique to Red Mountain. It was likely hard to work with, and ebony was both far stronger and more readily available. So glass seems like a considerably less lucrative export to Cyrodil than ebony was, despite ebony's own difficulty in using. "Elven"-type metal was probably more practical and cheaper in Cyrodil and was imported most likely from Summerset(or reclaimed from Ayleid sites, which are absent from Morrowind), and the distance between Summerset and Morrowind(in addition to probable dislike between Altmer and Dunmer) meant that little or no "Elven" items would have made it to somewhere as remote as Vvardenfell.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So I saw this artifact, and then suddenly had a really awesome idea of how a dwarf would use turtle shell to decorate a hammer. I'm no good at modding or 3D rendering, but I drew it on paint in case any of the 3D model creators in this thread wanted to use it.

I just thought that this would be how a dwarf would put a turtle shell on a hammer.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
If anyone wants to make a model of it, do so, if not, oh well, it only took me 2 minutes to draw, and I would have been annoyed with myself later if I didn't post it.

I can do that. I'm no good at 2d art, so if someone wants to draw a line drawing of the dwarf fleeing, I'll add it to the model.

I had a bone mace(Forgot what animal bone). I studded it with faint yellow diamonds, and encircled it with cave lobster shell.

Not true glass weapons and armor are actually common drops at higher levels in Oblivion

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's very ornamental if nothing else.

On topic however haven't really got any interesting artifact weapons at the moment but I'm really liking the look of things so far so I'll see if I come up with anything soon.

Oh. Must not have noticed it much. I usually come across some high-powered enchanted elven stuff(or enchant it myself), and most of the people that I come across at that level uses Daedric.

And now I remember using a frost-enchanted glass longsword too. *facepalm* :-[

@Gearhart: I would have thought the turtle shell would have gone on the smashing end of the hammer, but I guess that wouldn't help its smashing power much.

I always thought Glass was a monocrystalline metal.

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

My first mood in my current fort was a weaponsmith. I was hoping for something badass, but all I got was a bronze warhammer studded with bronze. Eh, maybe next time.

No.  It is neither a metal nor a crystal at all.  It's not a metal because, well, it's not (Silicon is a metalloid, and in any case the base ingredient is SiO2), and it's not monocrystalline because it lacks any crystal structure at all.  It's an amorphous solid, a fancy word for a solid which has its molecules arranged in the way a liquid would have them arranged.

Well, not quite liquid.  Glass has short-range order but no long-range order.  Liquid has neither.

I thought short-range order referred to a regular structure in the molecules themselves but not in the way they were arranged, which liquids definitely have.
