Your prisoners.

Your prisoners body parts.

Your prisoners corpses.

Burning shit.

We should be able to trow useless cats and other pets (Imagine a flying elephant in a cage that will deploy behind the enemy lines).

How about some ideas that involve more actual ammo >_>

Such as small rocks, or masses of spiked metalic balls?

Spikes, Chain and balls, Bags of flour laced with poison, Razor blades...

Apparently, barrels don't break open even if they're thrown, but are items or creatures inside of them injured?

If not, until we have exploding barrels we can make do with dwarven drop troopers.

Well we could add some funny reactions for the catapults. Ever though about making ammunition increadibly hot?

This, though we would need more a realistic figure of projectile velocity. I think it would be something like the maximum velocity of the catapult arm (which varies by quality, and possibly type if Toady ever includes trebuchets) minus some amount based on the mass of the projectile.

On a different note, can pieces of slade obtained through mods be fired from a catapult?

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

Although, some alterations to the physics engine will be required because of the whole "breaking your fall" thing
