That's what I meant. I wanted to play it as 3rd person shooter, but all the terrible animation stopped me.

Quote
I just cant imagine how it cannot support ladders.
They use navmeshes for AI pathfinding, I won't say WHY cannot it work (because I don't know), but it's mainly AI pathfinding problem.

Todd Howard said:
Quote
"Play our game; find a ladder that you can use. We don't have them," he said.

Howard explained the primary reason for not being able to include ladders into environments is due to their engine, saying ladders caused problems for character AI.

"One day, we tried to figure out why we wanted ladders so bad because we don't really need them. It just felt like we're game development pussies because we can't do ladders."
http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1112469p1.html

So basically they DO NOT WANT to try to solve this problem.

Also Gamebryo doesn't allow ladders(!) and diagonal strafe-movement animations which are in MOST of common games, which is really weird.

P.S. Also the whole world made from huge rooms connected together is not the best "open world" mechanics. I hope New Vegas is the last "open world game" which uses Gamebryo.
I just cant imagine how it cannot support ladders. But yeah, I read it, in some interview. I mean... the game can have several floors above each other, so there must be some kind of way of tricking the engine.

The diagonal movement... well, I never really missed that, you only see yourself when you're going into doll mode, no? Well, okay, FO3 could be played in dollmode entirely. But is there any MP game which uses gamebryo?

Yah, hoping Gamebryo will be dead after this game for Bethsoft - they have a company that can make REAL engines now in their fold with John Motherfuckin Carmack and all that. I can't see any reason why they'd continue to.

That said, I enjoyed playing Fallout 3 in spite of it and I'll probably enjoy this too.

Okay, wow, this cannot be unseen and my mind will never be whole again.

I went looking for confirmation (yes, indeed this game one hundred percent drops GfWL but keeps the Games for Windows logo on the box, in favor of steamworks)

The second link was a forum full of fanboys. Fanboys of GfWL.

This channel spams me with "purchase a pro account" popups which block the video. Does everyone have that?

If you use adblock plus (firefox only sadly) it'll block the ads and not the video, unless it's so embedded into it that it's part of the video. Screwattack.com as an example. It skips the ad, and lets me play the video. It works on youtube aswell. Unless if they still use ads while the video plays, it'll prevent ads. I don't know because i never saw them after getting it.

Fallout 1 is good. Fallout 2 is also good, though a bit distanced from the original aesthetics of the first game, in my opinion, this is sensibly so because it occurs sometime after the first game but is still sad that it is. Fallout 3 is a shit FPS game that is still decently fun but, of course, lacks a lot of what made the original fallout good. (Low intelligence character dialogue, etc.) Gore and lololol moments aren't a suitable replacement for good game design, on top of the bugs present in fallout 3.
I am unsure of New Vegas but it's not fair to say that it's a bad mod for Fallout 3 (Even though it mostly is)
IMO, Gears of War is a bad mod for Unreal Tournament followed by two even worse mods that are the sequels.

I think I've seen it all now.

Comparable phrases? "How DARE you not punish me for something I didn't do. I demand you hit me with a blunt object, right now!"

This news actually....raises my hopes. *shockandisbelief*

well I watched a few playing video's, and an interview, and it seems hugely different from Fo3, they just used the same graphics (which I love) put a different filter on it though, but weapons, people, bots, clothing, combat, ect are completely different, and I like how New Vegas is actually a living and well kept city, which makes sense since it's 200 freaking years in the future, along with that explaining all the food.  Also in the interview I saw, they showed a new direct command for followers screen (thank god) and a weapons upgrade system, so I have pre-ordered it, and frankly I'm happy for it being on steam, I find windows live lags like a bit**

You may not have noticed while playing Bethesda's Fallout or Elder Scrolls titles over the years, but none of the games from those series include climbable ladders as a means of getting to higher places.

There were ladders in Daggerfall...

I'm not sure, I never tried it in real life, but clicking that link felt a bit like stickin my head into a very dirty toilet.

Incidentially the only game in which I tried that was FO3.

Pretty sure every single person here knows that and that is why it hasn't been brought up. It's common knowledge. I also don't see where it is relevant :P
