There are even some that will take a long time to break down without the proper maintenance.  Like for instance a certain famous russian assault rifle who's chinese version was slightly more common then air molecules in the game.
Actually guns degrade pretty fast when they get lots of use.
I oil my MAK-90 at least once a month and it stovepipe jams all the time. The M1911A1 also got a bad rep in WWII because they were leftovers from WWI only 27 years earlier.

Flailing people to death with empty socks, though, that takes a lot of effort. Less so if the sock's made out of something interesting, but generally quite difficult.

I'm currently playing FO3 with FOOK2, all the guns are so damn pretty. SCAR+sheriff duster = badass. The repair function is useful for increasing value, saving up space and stuff, but in terms of guns breaking down, I tend to find I don't have enough ammo to wear them down.

I'll probably get FO:NV for the PC, but the slaves are spreading stories about the burned man again.

You oil it sure, that's just good gun maintenance.  But how often have you had to disassemble the whole damn thing and replace part of the firing mechanism?

Just FYI for anyone not in the know, they're using the same engine they did for FO3, so it does look identical aside from the orange colour, which is actually a pretty nifty touch for the change in setting. My hope is more content for Fallout. The first one had a couple sequences of side quests, the main story and a couple DLCs relatively worth playing. Otherwise, I actually enjoyed FO3, it was fun blasting the crap out of stuff from an FPS perspective with power armour and a laser Gatling.

E: Ironsights, just pure awesome

Which is the same engine more or less than the oblivion one. Can someone explain how they can afford all of these high priced voice actors but not have the money to create a better engine or at least one that isn't so freaking buggy around mods or even vanilla gameplay.
Bethesda got lazy and cheap and uses the Gamebryo engine. Ironically other games that use the Gamebryo engine crashed less and usually without reason other than crappy programming. i miss the XnGine.

FO3 for the PC went from crashing every 2 minutes to crashing once a week (or every few days) or so when I disabled autosave and stopped using quicksave, and downloaded and installed a mod which completely blocked the scripted autosave. (Yes, it still autosaves from time to time during the main quest, etc, even if you have disabled autosave in the game's options, unless you mod it)

The autosave and quicksave are effectively breaking the game's stability. Why? I don't know, and once I discovered that disabling them fixed the crashing, I didn't really care why anymore.

TLDR the Prima strategy guide for Fallout: NV is over half a million words long.

In fact, I think gamebryo is a reason NOT to buy, doesnt matter how good the game might be. Even if it works, without any noticeable bugs, even if you have a powerhouse of a computer, there will always be this microstuttering which is a damn pita to get rid of.

Some people don't notice, I think I envy them.

Also Gamebryo doesn't allow ladders(!) and diagonal strafe-movement animations which are in MOST of common games, which is really weird.

P.S. Also the whole world made from huge rooms connected together is not the best "open world" mechanics. I hope New Vegas is the last "open world game" which uses Gamebryo.

I don't reckon they'd make another Fallout on it, considering it's been done for 2 now. I hope atleast.

I just cant imagine how it cannot support ladders. But yeah, I read it, in some interview. I mean... the game can have several floors above each other, so there must be some kind of way of tricking the engine.

The diagonal movement... well, I never really missed that, you only see yourself when you're going into doll mode, no? Well, okay, FO3 could be played in dollmode entirely. But is there any MP game which uses gamebryo?
