Perform a complicated series of feints and dodges, attempting to distract the slime and make it easier for others to target.

There is also a six-foot long musket hanging on the wall, complete with bayonet.

Go though the library, search for info on the good guys. Also take that musket.

It's not on you anymore, I took it off, and it's my pet, so stay away from it or else I shall shoot you in the nuts with a necrosis bolt.

Name Slime:Billy Bob

Create a small open carrying case for Billy bob, then put billy bob in the slime basket, and head into the mines, looking for any torches to light the way.
