Wii Games, Which are worth the coin...
« on: October 13, 2010, 04:46:34 am »

Mid Year I bought myself a Wii and have slowly started building up my Wii game collection, though limited I am looking to grow them.
So far I have...

Wii Fit (Came with Console and Wii Board that was part of deal)
Wii Sports (Comes with every Wii you buy, Ever...)
Monster Hunter Tri (Monster Hunter Fanatic here)
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (Loved it on the GBA (emus T_T))
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (Harvest Moon Fanatic too, disappointed that it was GC Port)
Rune Factory Frontier (Harvest Moon Spin off full of epicness)
Job Island: Hard Working People (Fun Minigame collection of Fun, is actually Fun funny enough)

So far I am enjoying the Console when I use it, but I am looking into other games too. Though I really want to know, what are worth it. Below are a list of ones that I am looking to buy shortly...

Little Kings Story
Zelda Twilight Princess

What others are there??? Even if they are like Mini game fun things, I will give them a go IF I can find them, though please know that I am restricted to Offline Purchuses and PAL versions so only games that have reached England (and thus Australia) will I be able to look into...

EDIT:: Also note that I am limited on Multiplayer options as I don't have a lot of Friends in the local area (all moved while I am still stuck at home with the folks T_T) and my Girlfriend isn't a gamer enough to try many games for long, though the Nintendogs and NDS that I bought for her has taken some interest, listening to her train the dogs over Skype atm...

FAKEEDIT 2:: Also downloadable games from Wiiware or what ever its called is unavailable atm... Lost my card with the number to connect to my Net...

((Also is this the right Fourm for this???))

Yes it is.

Mario Galaxy. SO MUCH. Haven't played the sequel but I have a hard time believing it's any less awesome. Also Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And you can probably find Wii Sports real cheap used, and that's always a sound investment.

Wii actually suffers from a dearth of quality games in my opinion, but if you own a Wii - Mario Galaxy. Seriously.

Boomblox is really entertaining. I don't have a wii but borrowed it from my sister for a few weeks. Boomblox is basically the only game that makes me want to buy a wii :P

Forgot that Wii Sports came with the Console too... been thinking about trying Galaxy, Brawl is less fun when less people to play with... Which I have limited amounts of...

Ōkami. Being one of my favourite games of all time, I heartily recommend it.

Also take a look at Endless Ocean, it's a very special kind of game, very relaxing, but I enjoy it very much personally. Get the second of if you're getting it, it improves on the first in all areas  and the story has basically nothing to do with the one in the sequel.

I hated Endless Ocean, but nvm me.

I think first of all the Homebrew Channel needs to be mentioned. Get it, then get a NES and SNES emulator, and there you go, the Wii just became the best console ever. It's probably not all that legal, but hey, I bought all those games already, I'm not doing that Virtual Console crap and pay again.

When it comes to titles you have to pay for:
Boomblox was really fun, already mentioned
Metroid Prime Corruption kept me in front of the screen til my arms hurt and that game was finished. (98%, darn you!)
I enjoyed that wotsitsname truckrace... Excite Truck or summat. (But I wouldnt pay more than 20€)
Skate it was decentish. Dont play if you played the "full versions" on the Xbox or PS3, because then its frustrating.

This, so much.
Simply amazing game.

If you like turn-based RPGs, try Phantom Brave.

How is the Tiger Woods game that uses the new twisty controller?  My buddy and i play skins for 50 cents a hole cause we are not mature enough to play for $1/hole.  :P  Is the new game/controller more realistic than the first version?  Is it too real to be fun?

Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

Meteroid: Other M looks very promising.
Will probably be my next buy, once I'm done with SMG2.

Resident Evil 4 is amazing if you don't already have it on another system. The only game I can think of that consistently and sincerely frightened me. The zombies infected in that game were pretty clever.

You mentioned Harvest Moon...
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility is for Wii, and in my opinion it's the best HM available right now, to the point where going back to the newer DS games felt like a HUGE step backwards afterwards. It gets rid of a lot of the arbitrary annoyances in the mechanics, adds a bunch of new features and animals (Rideable ostriches!), has an interesting batch of characters and cute stylized graphics to boot. It also has the option to play as either male or female, unlike a ton of the other games. It's so good.

It has a pseudo-sequel called Animal March, which in my opinion is somewhat inferior, but it's moot anyway since it doesn't have a PAL release yet according to Wikipedia.

No More Heroes 1 & 2 are definitely worth your time.  They were censored in the Pal regions though.

Comparison here.

Okami is great.
Both Mario Galaxies are great.
SSB: Brawl is great.
Metroid Prime Trilogy is great.
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is pretty good.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.
