Its called Near-Death Experience. It's what they saw when they were close to being legally dead. Clinically dead is the heart not pumping and no breathing, that does not mean they are dead, there brain could still be sending out brainwaves and crap. But to get your heart AND your lungs back working after not functioning for mere seconds to minutes is Astounding. Those organs have not had blood to deliver oxygen which they need so vitally.

Death feels like being trapped in an oil painting with Cuba Gooding Jr.

Alternatively, it feels like taxes, except it only comes once.

The problem with all the folks who died and then came back (near-death experiences) is that they aren't dead.

They lost heart and/or brain function for some period of time.  Their brain would've gotten critically low on oxygen.  They may have technically been dead for some amount of time.

But then their heart started beating again.  And their brain started getting oxygen again.  And then they stopped being technically dead.

So they describe what it felt like for their heart to stop...  What it felt like for their brain to be starved of oxygen...  What it felt like to have their heart start back up, and what it felt like for oxygen to return to their brain...

But they didn't stay dead.

So they have no more (or less) experience being genuinely dead than the rest of us do.

Yeah, that's what always bugged me about "near-death experiences".

The brain can survive without oxygen and suffer no brain damage for a couple minutes. After that, it's still alive but it starts dying (so you get brain damage). You're still not dead... you're "clinically dead" which simply means "heart stopped, not breathing". Your brain is very much still alive, and if it isn't, it means you're NOT coming back.

I have not died but I have a question for you..

Do you remember how you felt before you were born?

I remember when I was a speck of cosmic dust just coming out of the big bang. My best friend was a photon.

It surprises me that many have not posted any Christian stuff here. In another forum once, topics like these usually have a couple Christian guys preaching and the rest is mostly serious debate and discussion. (no offense to any Christians) Instead, lots of the chat here is lighthearted humor on the subject of death. I guess mass slaughtering kittens and subjecting prisoners and annoying people to horrible death can cause that.

Huh.  I'm curious why that sucked for you.  I would think that could be very relaxing.  What made it unpleasant?

Moreover, how did it suck? If you couldn't feel anything...?

Ah, but if you had some sense of the passing of time, then that's not nothing.  Hell I'd call that supremely comforting.  If you can "feel" pure nothing, it would mean that consciousness persists.

I'm confused by your personal text then. How is death eternal instead of 5 seconds long? Wouldn't that make yours a near-death experience?
