This is a paticularly poor idea, since the phaser's EM emissions would do as much damage to you as it does to the enemy you're targeting. You decide against it. Anyway, your pulse shotgun is far more powerful as it is.

It seems that while machines capable of amplifying psionic emissions or generating weak telepathic signals can be built, and some Aincient Stephinian androids have displayed psionic powers, noone can seem to make an android that has any meaningful amount of psionic ability without incredibly large amplifiers and insanely complex artifical brains.
