Crafts Market: not as useless as it seems

I can't believe it took me this long to notice, but I've thought of an actual uses for the shops you see selling unusable cosmetic objects like scepter, rings, or statues.

You cannot use currency in a civilization besides the one which makes it, so you can buy those goods before leaving and sell them in another civilization to effective exchange currency. In essence, they give you a more reliable way to store currency.
For that matter, currency for a civilization that is hostile toward you is worthless because they'll never sell you anything, but other civilizations will accept your stolen goods.

Course it might be more profitable just to go to a cave entrance and steal all the loot and fly brains.
