Dwarf cancels engrave designation: getting drunk
« on: March 17, 2008, 10:49:00 pm »

I've noticed a couple times where my engrave designations disappear - I order a room engraved, and when I come back later, it's engraved except for one or two random tiles.  When I go to redesignate, I notice that they're no longer designated.  It seems that dwarves are sometimes finishing the engrave designation without actually finishing the engraving.  I think, though I can't confirm it, that it has something to do with canceled engravings not reinstating the designation.

On a similar note, does constructing furnature still remove smooth/engrave designations?

If ignorance is bliss, why are my dwarves all tantruming?

I've never known that to happen.

As per lost engrave designations: yeah, known bug.

Not sure - I've seen problems where dwarves cancel wall-building (and other jobs) due to injury (eg a red lung (ouch!) dwarf with Masonry set will take the jobs then cancel when they feel the pain of their wound and need to stop) but I didn't think it affected designations as well.  You could check if any of your engravers are invalids?

I've watched designations get canceled (and ONLY engrave! but maybe also smooth) when dwarves get hungry/thirsty.

I have fortification carving get canceled.  Often, I designate a long section of wall for fortification and about every other square gets carved.

Happens for a different reason.  You know how cleaning works?  Clears every tile around the work tile?  Well, fortification designation removal happens in the same way.
