Pick one dwarf and place him in his own squad. Give him the profession name of the  Rainbow Unicorn Master. Assign every unicorn to him. Send him alone to kill every elf caravan that comes.

Awesome defence. Make a rooms which isolates goblins on a plateau which they can't get off with the cage in the middle, then pull the lever.

If you don't mind the lack of gaming integrity, you could mod the unicorns to have steel skin and flesh, making them ROBOT unicorns.
