It's funny when people find prepared fly brains in caves and all we say is "yeah, this happens ocassionally."

It's actually perfectly normal to find random food around caves.

Shouldn't it's weight indicate its size?

Giant flies can't normally exist- If they were made of chitin and the usual fleshy bits. Therefore, giant flies are made of some kind of low density material. Maybe something like aerogel.


Therefore, the fly brain might weigh very little, but looks large.

Not necessarily, flies need to maintan their ability to fly to survive, spiders and scorpions can have as much armor as they want as long as they have enough muscle mass to support themselves and the lungs/circulatory system to support said muscle tissue. Normal arthropods have copper-based blue blood which is inefficient, usually have inefficient breathing apparatus, and an open circulatory system, but if a species could change those things it could theoretically be just as successful as any vertebrate. They'd probably go extinct anyway, though.
