Neocron 2 is great. I used to play it a lot years back but they did some changes I didn't like. (Like removing the sex bits out of the hookers when you hire them.)

Either way, it has awesome mature content and some fun meta-fps gameplay.

It was. But it sort of depends on the server population, since the most fun parts are PvP and taking control of land. Sad thing is, it takes at least 4 hackers to get control of a building and it was hard to find 4 hackers. But it wasn't too hard to get yourself a tank and a pilot to go pew pew outside.

Just a warning. The skill system, sadly gives leeway for faster leveling schemes. So most people there, follow a certain skill path to level as fast as possible, then use drugs to revert to what they really wanna play.

It was one of the reasons I left, there's barely any midlevel gameplay for characters that don't go for fast leveling. There used to be, but once the population started to die off, only the real 'leet' addicts remained, so that's what you get.

But if you really want to enjoy the game, pick something you -like- and stick with it, go playing normally, find some people who feel the same way and group with them. The reason for that is that you not only learn skills from using them, but from watching your group mates using them. So if you're a pistol guy and you're grouping with a psychic dude, you will get psy xp from watching him use his powers and he will get pistol xp from watching you. The bigger the team, the more you get. Also, learn how to craft/recycle as soon as possible. Every single container, and I really really mean every single container in the game that you see on the streets, is a random loot box. If you see a box by a store, open it and you will find loot. It may seem like crap, like rotten food, insect parts, and body parts, but if you know how to recycle and craft, those meaningless parts can be your drugs and ammo of tomorrow.

I played the first game's demo some years ago. Fired a rocket launcher at an enemy. Since I didn't have a lot of rocket launcher skill, the projectile CURVED AROUND HIM. Never went back.
I've never ever seen that. o.o

Now that's how you fail a skill check.

I used to play this game back then and trailed it... I like the game but I really don't like how I don't get much of a guide on where to go to level up and whatnot. I had a hard time finding places and end up getting killed or finding places where people just grenade spamming like a TF2 Demoman. Prices for ammo is kinda expansive and I had to find a way to survive with melee weapons... I wish this game gone free-to-play so I could play it once more,  as this game was pretty good.

I think I played the original once a long time ago in open beta.  I can't remember much about it.  For some reason I keep thinking of Face of Mankind instead which is another sort of roleplaying MMOFPS with a player run government.

It's bad if they did that. AoE stuff didn't take skill checks before, but the damage was modified by your skill, which made a bit more sense than a curve rocket.

As for the level areas, you ask in the channels and also explore. Ammo isn't expensive at all, you were just doing it wrong. Or rather, never had anyone show you around and teach you how to either make money or make ammo.

So curving bullets take high skills
but curving rockets takes lows skills

I couldn't reactivate my old account, since it used an email I don't use anymore. So I've made a new one and am back in the game. :D

If anyone wants to team up and learn a few tricks, lemme know. (altho, I see a bit of it changed. >.>)

Edit:

Nothing like the Crahn noob mission to get you back in the neocron mood:

Btw, if you guys don't know, the game is free right now. The reason being they had to patch back to a not so hacker-free game and they are focusing on Black Prophesy, so they're keeping the game running for free for now, due to them not being able to provide any new patches or anything substantial to the community.

Create an account using paybycash and cancel/ignore the payment part. Neocron will send you an email with your password and you can simply use that to log in and play.

So I recommend you guys at least try it out.
