Embarking on a dark fortress which is the Mountainhome!
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:09:25 am »

I've re-genned a world I had been playing on until now with additional z-levels to allow for greater space for upwards-building. I played as an adventurer first to obtain information to be used as backdrop in the story, and found out that the capital(mountainhome) of the Empire of the Static Portals, the aggresive, expansionist dwarven super-kingdom than spanned the northern regions of the continent that would become my home civilization, was located in the far east of its dominion, on the goblin dark fortress of Nakogogust. ... I actually went all the way there to confirm that the High Queen's residence was indeed the obsidian structure.

Now all I had to do was embark on the promised site that would become my greatest megastructure yet..... but just out of curiosity I moved my embark cursor to the capital, and noticed that I can embark on it, just like other goblin structures. But as I have written above, this goblin fort is THE MOUNTAINHOME! The QUEEN lives here!

To the question at hand.

Does anyone have an idea of what would happen if I did embark over Nakogogust? Would it become dehabitated? Or would the queen and all the other inhabitants(which includes enslaved(or assimilated) goblins and elves) become natives? Or perhaps the whole thing would just bug out and the game will act as if the mountainhome along with the royal entourage was established somewhere else...

By the way, the General-Marshall of the Static Portals is apparently an elf.

I just embarked on the capital. The entire population.... has turned into natives!

Here are some screenshots.

Stonesense overview of the capital

Spoiler: The Queen (click to show/hide)

The Queen apparently is happily in power.

Spoiler: The nobles screen (click to show/hide)

No, she does not appear in the nobles screen. In fact, all the original inhabitants (dwarves included) are not listed as citizens.

And she is still the Queen, according to the civilization screen.

This would be really cool with something like the fortress defense mod, a group of 7 militia dwarves are hired by the queen to protect the mountainhome from every danger that lurks outside, eventually more and more dwarves looking to become part of the militia show up, hmm!

Cool. The adventurer I used to explore the world and find the capital is still present in the fortress!

OK, I'm right now using Runesmith to remove the resident tag from the inhabitant dwarves so I can make use of the dwarfpower.

Save please D=

It's coming soon ;) please be patient

Pretty cool, however it opens the question of where exactly your migrants are going to come from.

I always thought it was from your respective Mountainhome(or former Mountainhome, if your ruler moves to your fort), but....if you're there, then...

This is just awesome... Can't you just collapse the tower in a separate save? We need to see the civ screen :)

New question! If I were to remove elves [INTELLIGENT] tag in the raws, would it work?

Pump magma into the mountainhome and use it as an obsidian factory.

So you made the residents part of your fort?

Also, did they have food stockpiles or any other items that you suddenly own?

Also save plox DDDD=
