Disappearing fortresses...
« on: January 12, 2008, 12:44:00 pm »

I had an odd case where most of a goblin fortress dissapeared.

I went to the site with an adventurer, and cleared the place out (somewhat) then embarked there.  The first time I tried this, it crashed on embark.  The second time, it was successful, but about one minute into play two and a half of the three towers disappeared.  Now, one tower is left with the top of it floating (Cave ins are on) and there are red 'T'rees (no type, cant cut them), 'S'hrubs, and 'V' Saplings where the towers were. The remaining goblins dont appear to be hostile either.

If you want, I can upload a save.

I had this exact issue back in... I forget which version. I was going to post a bug report, but it kind of creeped me out too much to bother.

Yay! I'm not quite as insane as I originally thought!

Oh, and for me, it disappeared immediately and my seven dwarves had no way of getting down from the top of the tower that was now on z-level +1, as there was simply forest with wierd-looking trees under it, and no stairs.

Also... apparently the dwarves have no AI as well after the disappearance, as I just found out.  Upon reloading the save... the floating pieces collapsed and the dwarves and goblins started moving again (those surviving), still wont attack though.

Save is at http://rapidshare.de/files/38282180/Weird_bug_save.zip.html

Of note, I am using Rob's Mod so you'll need that, but I do not think it was the source of the problem.
