fine pewter bed

If I were going to waste any more time on this demand, how would I go about it? I tried parking a bed near the forge and studding with fine pewter, but those went on a pair of crutches instead (which my mayor is sure to appreciate when I break his legs.)

You can easily complete this demand by pressing d, then d again. Next designate a large amount of wall to dig out. Make sure it ends at a lava flow!

Another way to complete this task is to route a water supply up to a z level above your fort, dig a shaft going down, surround it with fortifications, and either drain or recycle the water. Designate the areas as places for the dwarves to meet, be it with a meeting hall, chairs and suck, or statues. Then ignore your noble dwarves mandates because they will be so happy from mist they wont ever care.

...oh wow.

Sigged.

But if you really want to get this done legitimately (for some reason) then I suggest either locking the mason in a room with nothing but beds, fine pewter, and a workshop, or doing the same with a burrow restriction.

A moody blacksmith is your only hope. Fortunately, demands don't result in hammerings when ignored.

Perhaps your mayor could practice his swimming skill.  In magma.

Which do you like better?  Your metalsmith or your mayor?  I probably wouldn't want to automatically ice someone who likes fine pewter, given that that's far easier than a lot of likes.

I don't mind him much, he's a harder worker than my metalsmith, and his mandates are either necessary or profitable anyway. Usually he just wants two pieces of fine pewter, so I make one for his chambers and one to plant where he's likely to cross it, so he's stayed pretty happy. I just want see if I can strike this demand off the list since it's been on for years.
