500 dollars is a bit much. 250 perhaps?

Given how much I potentially have to benefit from this, I choose to say nothing either way.  But it will certainly level out the playing field.

In theory, the old players have been getting at least 500 per turn, except for me obviously, now some of the technologies that they bought have gone into the public domain, but otherwise it is just a big lump-sum. it gives them a chance to steamroll through someone else's territory with a concentrated force, but the older players should be able to rally against it...

Maybe 500 * (turns - technologies*3)

Well, after this I planned to make a Countries At War: Prelude which would involve taking over the provinces of the various players territories.

Oh... not sure how that would go, but if you want to host it I might join.

Uh, I have a tendency to collapse Countries At War games into a mess.

Well, even 500 a turn wouldn't be that much, since you usually earned more than that a turn (Except your RAM). Plus they had time to build empires, so their revenues are higher.

I though about new players steamrolling older ones, but I think there's a simple solution. Limit the numbers of units one can recruits from a country in one turn. I'm thinking of something like allowing one units for each 30,000,000 peoples living in a country, with each player's starting territorry set at 60,000,000 or something.

Perhaps newcomers should just get double or triple income from the home territory for a few turns, and maybe a few extra units? Double the normal $500 income would put them almost on par, monetarily, with most of the long term players.

I thought that people who hadn't made 2000 income yet were forced to wear dunce hats...

Of the three players who have $2K or greater income, assuming you count Demonic Spoon's $1996, Spoon has been investing in his countries and USEC and I both have only recently acquired a high income country. Phantom and Ragnarok have both been investing in research at least as much as me, though Ragnarok has been going almost exclusively after a limited field. As for you, you're the worst off but only because of you suffered most from URIST's attempt to stop us.

This reminds me, I've been meaning to offer to give you some money. If you want it, and depending on how much of an increase I get from my investing in Greater Israel, next turn I shall give you between $500 and $1000. Do you accept?

Iituem, your idea would make sense, bit it's too subjective. How much to give to a new player? I'd have to make a decision each time somebody joins.

I'd prefer a clear cute rule.

As for the tech, I'm not sure I should give less money to a new players for the techs that fell into the public domain. Sure they get it for free, but so does everybody else, including the NPCs.

I think you may have gotten names mixed up. You're either talking to RAM or to me. Given your edit, I think you mean RAM, but I could be wrong. You could even be talking to both of us.
