Computer-Assisted Turrets - Essentially manual turrets but with computer-assisted targeting and rangefinding.  Still operated by ordinary human soldiers (or ork soldiers if Mordor ever researches it), but designed at killing infantry even more successfully.

Iituem: The unpaid soldiers deserted, and there wasn't much kit around. If you bankrupt a country which has tanks or airplanes, you may collect those (if they haven't been sold for scrap).

Also, RAM, you cannot invade a country with Transport Ships!

Turn's up. USEC rolled extremely badly, which was kind of fun to watch. Others were luckier, especially hubris. Also, we know have an official timeline: each turn is one month, with the first turn being November 2010 (When we started the game). I also changed the sea-zones a bit, made them less horrible-looking. Ah, and I'm sure that I forgot a bazillon things and made even more typos so I'm asking for your indulgence. Just point out anything wrong to me.

I don't have a lot of use for direct infantry right now, and for my tactics Turrets give me rather more bang per buck.  That said, infantry do have pretty good modifiers by comparison.

V-Norrec: Funds for the next research project will arrive next turn.  That cool?

Territories

- Sierra Leone ($800) -  4 Infantry (2 Entrenched), 1 Manual Turret, 1 Battle Accountants
- Guinea-Conakry ($250) - 1 Manual Turret
- Liberia ($0) - 1 Manual Turret, 1 Infantry

Wealth

Revenue: $1050
Savings: $15

Investment: Although Guinea-Conakry is still pretty ripe for development, investment in Liberia is necessary to prevent open revolt.  A bumper surge of $800 is to be plunged into Liberia's economy, redeveloping the country's much underexploited Agricultural Industry.
Training: Kit out the new infantry squad in Liberia with the recovered weaponry and give it sufficient training.  -$200.

Tech

No actions.

'Armies'

Battle Accountants begin undermining the drug suppliers upholding the Bisseau military's power structure and draining the last ounces of strength from its flagging, crippled economy.

Quote from: The Economy of Guinea-Bisseau, Economic Warfare Directive Report
Guinea-Bissau is home to a large number of small offshore islands.  Its unstable, autarkic military structure allows it to sidestep or flat out ignore government with impunity make Bisseau a perfect shipping point for drugs to Europe.  Obviously this presents fantastic opportunities for us, but it does mean that the military and drug lords have a vested interest in maintaining power and a stranglehold over government and economy.

Guinea-Bisseau has one of the lowest GDP per capita ratings in the world ($700) with a total GDP of only $1 billion.  It is one of the least developed countries and more than two-thirds of the population live below the poverty line.  What economy exists depends primarily on agriculture (its chief exports to the world are fish, cashew nuts and ground nuts, with a total export value in 2002 of $52M).  The depressed economic activity is owed in large part to the lengthy political instability of the country, but also to its history as a socialist planned economy which whilst perhaps altruistic was poorly implemented and ruined the financial infrastructure of the time.

Beyond its favourable position for drug smuggling, Guinea has precious little in the way of real resources.  Mineral and oil extraction is too expensive for viability (certainly compared to its neighbour Guinea-Conakry) and the climate is not as favourable for intensified agriculture as Liberia.  Once acquisition of the country is made, we may have to consider development that is not region-specific.  This may require help from the research boys.

Guinea-Bisseau, much like Liberia, requires precious little real work to destabilise.  The problem lies in overcoming the stranglehold the military and drug lords (typically the same thing) have over the economy.  Bribery is our friend here, as is carefully targeted destruction.  Our strategy, in addition to providing large of sums of money from the Directive funds as bribes, will be to undermine not only the legitimate businesses of political opponents to takeover but to interfere with aspects of the supplier countries (not significantly enough to impact their economies) and discourage use of Bisseau as a transfer point.  When the generals start losing money quickly enough, they will be far more receptive to our offers.

We are expecting a timeline of 1-3 months to completion.  As always, more staff would be appreciated when funds become available.

El Salvador actually had an army!? Well that's surprising.

Operation Monsoon continues by having the 3 Regular Divisions from G.D.I. Southern Command attack El Salvador.

Revenue: $1232
-$960, Jump Jet Troopers, GDI Southern Command.
-$272, Researching Basic Rocket Science.
