Mostly likely not a bug but just in case I'm bringing it to attention:

When a dog(animal? tested dog only) is assigned to a chain and then the chain is unbuilt before the animal is unassigned the chain remains on the dog and the dog will drag it around wherever he goes.
It makes sense and is fairly entertaining so it's most likely a feature but I would like my chain back. Hopefully designating it for melting for dumping or something will remove it.
As it stands now it can't be rebuilt as long as it's in the dogs possession.

Keep the chain-dragging dogs away from dwarves named Midna.
