Cat lady?
« on: October 08, 2010, 02:21:13 am »

Just something I thought was funny. I noticed I had alot of kittens running around, so I decided I'd use them for quivers and food. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that fully six(!) of them were owned by one dwarf!

I'd named her 'Thug' because she was by far the best Hammerdwarf I had. Little did I know she had a softer side. But all she owns are kittens (and one cat), no dogs. So, she must be a cat lady!

Afraid you have it backwards. It's one dwarf owned by six cats. She must have a high pet value.

Hehe, I had a Craftsdwarf in my last fort who was like that. He actually showed up with 3 cats, and rapidly picked up 2 more.

I can just imagine her hatred of the other squad. They are marksdwarfs, and all their quivers are made of kitten leather!

Why do pets adopt dwarves instead of the other way around?

Cats adopt dwarves. They are the only pets who do that. But if you ask why, you surely are no cat owner. :D

You have it the other way around. Dwarves adopt pets. Except cats. Cats are special. Also, cute and cuddly.

This is a feature, not a bug, correct?
You're playing Dwarf Fortress.  There isn't much of a distinction.

Yea, that's just a cat thing in general.  Apparently they can be picky little bastards.  I don't know, I'm a dog person.

They're also powered by LOL, the most powerful and primordial force in felineland.

A caveat: don't let ceiling and basement cats commingle.
