Now this is a ripoff

so i was looking around in sourceforge for some good old free games when i came along with this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/thegoldenhasweg/. looked ok so i downloaded it started playing when i suddenly realize this looks familiar. download it and determine yourself.

yeah problem is that its really close to looking like DF, the gui is really the same and from what it looks like this guy will be copying some stuff over. i really don't have problems with DF ripoffs but this is in JAVA.

They're also upfront that they really only make it to test out algorithms, as a learning project

That is a terrible argument.  There is an obvious difference in something that takes inspiration from something else versus something that rips something else off.
