Thrones don't get used in bar fights.

Probably because they are meant to be different shapes. Or at least make you think so.

Clearly, you've never seen a tantruming dwarf hurl a +Granite Throne+ across the room.

Uniformity is dull, the various names used for similar things (cage vs. terrarium e.g.) are pretty much for color.

Because presumably they'd be designed very differently.  I picture the chair as like, well, a chair, and the throne more like a block with a seat on top.  So yeah, different shapes.

Though such explanations don't account for why glass pipe sections are called tubes.  Or glass doors called portals.

I see stone thrones as cafeteria seats, like back in middle/elementary school.

Whereas metal thrones are for kings and stuff

And chairs are just... chairs.

Do you ever even make wooden chairs or metal thrones?  I always make anything I can out of rock, I always have so much of the stuff.

And if you think about it, you wouldn't construct a rock to look like a chair.  Most likely, they are taking the rock and sculpting it into a throne, so making something that literally looks like a throne would make more sense than breaking it up and attaching each piece like a chair with legs and a back.

I imagine those more like the world's biggest shotput.

I see everyone is attempting logic; but if we apply that, it doesn't account for the ability to construct rock cabinets.  :P

I don't see why rock cabinets defy logic. Why, I've seen a rock closet(close enough to cabinets) in the Kyungju Historical Museum when I went there on a class field-trip back when I was in school.

I'm not sure where the realism line is drawn between "It's a tall rock box for my socks" and "Brb guys, hauling this lead cage with an elephant in it 30 floors down. By myself. Pansies. *wheeze*"

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

You're all wrong. A rock throne is another name for a toilet. Dwarves eat, and administrate whilst on the can.

An answer I'm surprised has not yet been given;

Carpenters don't use rock.

Somewhere around being able to assemble flutes, piccolos, drums, and harps out of nothing but a piece of granite.  I've heard of hard rock music, but that's just silly.
