Anyone got this? Or know a good LP?

I'm considering buying it, wondering if it's any good.

It's the last one? Been a while since i played it but think of the gameplay of the previous games but the resource system from the first three games and a bunch of new features.
My opinion? Better than 5&6, worse than 1-4

In a word: Good.  It isn't as good as the first few games, but it is no where near as bad as the last few.  Plus the graphics are top-notch. XD I got it on pre-order and still play it.

That pretty much sums it up.

I played the demo and enjoyed it enough BUT

It uses the Ubisoft always-online DRM scheme meaning it is impossible to recommend to anyone ever.

I never had a single problem with the DRM system, not once.  Plus I installed it on my mom's computer to play while on the road with her and got all of my account info and saves without having to do anything myself. XD Just awesome, that. Haha.

I think it is a great game. I really like the soundtrack. It has been a while since I played it. Maybe I should start it up again. :P

This is the reason I never got it, which is a shame because it sounds like it might have been good.

Yet another game that I won't be playing due to DRM.

It actually looked kinda cool until I read about the DRM. Seriously? Always online DRM that freezes your game if you lose connection? What if I want to play while my internet is down? Thats one of the big reasons I buy single player games - something to play when I don't have internet access. And how will it work when their servers are offline?

The sad thing is people who pirate the game will have a better playing experience than those who buy it. Will they have to have internet access for the cracked version? Nope. The people paying for it are getting a worse experience than those who pirate it. Thats like selling tickets for the nosebleed section and then letting people in for free on the front row. How can these people think it will bring them more revenue to spend millions on a DRM scheme that does nothing but make the gaming experience worse for paying customers?

When are mainstream publishers going to realize that these crazy DRM systems just don't work? What they need to do is come up with something that makes the playing experience BETTER for those who pay for it, not worse. If you actually get a better gaming experience when you pay for the game, more people will pay for it. The hardcore pirates aren't going to buy the game anyway, so make it better for the people who are on the fence and they might just buy it.

To be fair they do know this, but there is an awful lot of highly paid people who would be out of work if they actually tried to solve in a sensible way. This is especially true of certain high profile legal firms who make a lot of money despite dropping every case that approaches a courtroom.

Also making good content is much harder than pretending the reason your shitty stuff doesn't sell is because of pirates.

Quick question for anyone whose played Settlers 7:

When your settlers are working away, chopping things up and making things, do you see the production / stock levels on screen as part of the graphics? Or is it abstracted away like the last settlers (or the one before, I get them mixed up...)

Eg. if a lumberjack chops down 8 trees, do you see 8 logs outside his hut waiting to be moved on?

May sound wierd, but I can't stand games that don't show you at a glance whats going on!

You can zoom in and look at the lumberjacks when they work. They only chop down one tree at a time though. But they bring it to the warehouse and then you can watch the worker at the sawmill take the log and cut planks out of it. Then he brings the planks to the warehouse. I believe that if a woodcutter and a sawmill is part of the same complex they dont need to take the logs to the warehouses first. Most of the workplaces have very detailed animations that show how they work.
