How do you start one? We're assuming I don't have access to a dragon. I have a booze stockpile that a group of gobbos is sitting on.

Magma?

There be the rub. I can't pump the magma without going through the gobbos. I'd win easily, but it would be more entertaining if they blew up into a million pieces

And, as I always regret to say, booze blowing up doesn't actually do any damage.

Is boiling booze still harmless?

You could maybe drop a dwarven nuke on top of them, though that would require you to pump the magma up anyways.

(Dwarves won't carry the bin when it's actively melting them will they?)

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

Fire-breathing critters start them, I've had this happen a few times with the Fortress Defense mod's Hellfire Imps.  Warning, a fire creates IMMENSE overhead and will probably bring your FPS to single digits until it burns out, and if you have a large map, it will be going for a long time.  Fire won't pass walls, ramps, empty space or water, so keep that in mind if you get a fire on your map and you want to try to do something about it.

The cosmetic damage from fire slowly fades away over a couple of years.

Boatmurdered.   That is all.

...

Fire is really fun FPS death.  Other than that, it's awesome.

You could also set the boiling point of booze to be real low.

You could also set the boiling point of booze goblins' eyes to be real low.
Fixed.

They'll carry it until they notice they're hurt, giving the message Urist McFlammable cancels Store Item in Stockpile: Resting injury.

They're more like to get Urist McFlammable cancels Store Item in Stockpile: Interupted by Goblin Bowman.

There's a custom workshop for creating a bonfire somewhere in the modding forum, but that wouldn't help you much in the present situation. Or is it possible to tinker with entity_default without generating a fresh world now?

I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

He could probably mod a current workshop to do that, and then change it back afterwards. Adding in a new workshop totally, reqires re-gen

Fire Imps. If you can't pump the magma, dig a way into your fortress for fire imps. They throw fireballs, right?
