Meh, Elves seem to be regarded as badasses in most fiction. It's kind of annoying, 'Shit! the battle is lost', 'Wait, the Elves, we're saved' Oh? So they live forever, can run all day without tiring, craft the most badassed weapons and equipment, are the best fighters, archers and spellcasters, have the richest lore and also happen to be the greatest poets evar? Seems to me like Elves were just invented to fill the space of about 13 other races.

Well I can understand some of it, just from the liveing forever thing. When you have forever there isn't much to do but find something you love doing and practice practice practice until you perfect it. Hell that's the idea behind the elves(who only live 1000 years) in The Obsidion Trilogy, they find something they love doing and send the rest of their lives perfecting it. Well that and they are annoyingly polite, so much so that it's consittered rude to ask a direct question. And unlest the Inheritance books where the protagonist just goes along with this, the protagnosist of Obsidion does it out of necessity at times, but points out, more than once, it's idiotic and just makes things, important things, take much longer.

Eh.. I'm just of the opinion that authors make Elves way too powerful.

Elves are almost always a Mary Sue.  Stinking elves.

Well atleast the elves of Dragon Age aren't too powerful. They are either third class citizens or nomads.

Or maybe they were just Mary Sues, too, and the writers just have some really messed up fetishes.

Yeah, 'twas quite refreshing. I can't enjoy fantasy as much since I started writing my own... Interesting (Read: disgusting and controversial) stories.

Not really, there are like the other two playable races. Each one is best at a certain class, humans for rogue, dwarves for warrior, elves for mage. Even then the differance isn't big. And the nomad elves act most like the more cliche elves, includeing being complete and utter pricks >.>. I enjoy killing them with the werewolves at my side.

Weren't they slaves or something?  Or am I remembering a different game?  I only played the first couple hours or so, having trouble remembering the game.

They where slaves 1000 years before the game, got their own homeland, got homeland invaded by an 'Exalted March'(Read:Crusade), now are third class citizens liveing in bad homes with little food or money, and if they attempt to move out of these 'alinigies' people tend to burn down their new home.

Pretty much yeah, the city elf origin begins with your bride to be(or you if female charactor) your cousin's bride to be, your other cousin, and a few other women being kidnaped by a noble to be raped since your 'just elves'. you kill his guard, can kill him or accept a bribe, no matter what your cousin is the only one who does get raped before you can help. You latter get to tell the king that you 'slaughtered an Arl(noble title)'s son becouse he tried to rape my cousin and wedding guests'

Turns out I forgot more than I thought.  I played through every intro, didn't remember that at all.

I don't remember it being particularly bad or anything, I'm a bit surprised it didn't stick at all.

Yeah, I was shocked the first time I played through it, It made enjoy killing the noble prick, and I liked the king's reaction when you tell it to him. Still I shall always love bioware for the fact they let me side with the werewolves(i love werewolves anyway but these ones are doubly cool) and slaughter the elves.
