Thanks for the compliment! I did use a very washed out color tone... I don't like working with highly saturated colors like red or blue or pure brown. I can always do the next set less washed-out, though.

 Washed-out is ok,but you kind of overdid it.I personally use highly saturated colors,but make them very dark so they wouldn't look that bright.

I have to agree with the use of washed out colors myself. While not exactly color blind, that shade of blue my eyes just can't focus right. It ends up looking extremely blurred. In my DF init file, I have to change Blue to some color between blue and cyan to be able to play without straining my eyes.

I think the king should be more purpley. Right now he basically looks like a normal dude, which I don't think a king would really enjoy.

I want to see them in an appropriately pastel environment, though.
You should make a tileset and a color scheme to go with them! = D
