Mayday Graphics for 31.16

I've managed to find some free time at uni, and was wondering if there is a way to make the Mayday graphics function in 31.16 without waiting for a new version of the graphics to be released.  Are there some files I can just copy around?

Yah, I just set mine up myself. Shall I upload the fully-set-up Mayday 31.16 install to Rapidshare for you?

Note about WinRAR:

You could use 7-Zip or PeaZip instead.

Both are free and open source, and can handle many archive types.

Im assuming the game is trying to load a texture that is wrong or doesn't exist?

Sorry I had two versions of DIY mayday tilesests and I was playing the wrong one, which has black textures.

But then I played your version.... the colors seemed.... different... then I noticed the trees....

This is yours:


And this is the one I was using with the black textures:


Your version has weird goblet looking trees and simple green arrows. It looks.... bad... no offense. The grass is darker and on the world map the green is almost a slime green.

I dont know if you changed this because of preference or what happend.

The other version is Ozones 31.16 DIY mayday, but like I said im having problems with black textures on doors and hatches somtimes.

I will just stick with Phoebus 31.16 tileset even though I prefer mayday. At least until theres a legit version.

Odd. Trees look fine on my install (it's Winter, so they're white):



I suspect that (perhaps) when you swapped tilesets, you forgot to change the tileset ref in the init/init.txt file.

The three areas that require changes... already made in the version that I uploaded... are /raw/graphics, /data/art, and data/init/init.txt

I hope you sent my install to a new DF directory, and didn't just over-write your old one. Over-writes do NOT remove old files... they just add new files in the same spot.

Thats really weird...

No I didnt just copy over files and overwrite. I have three installs of DF (mayday, Phoebus, and Vanilla) All in separate folders.

Your archive had just one convenient folder to extract, which I did. Into my games folder.

If there was anything I had to do it to AFTER the extraction, then that would be the problem as I didnt touch it.

I actually dont know how to install tilesets, so I let other people pre-install them(Such as this one, and Ozones release).

Please tell me what I did wrong, I love the mayday tileset!

Wait, I just realized that I did in fact alter the init but it was only to enable the intro as it was disabled for some reason. I dont see how that could affect the tileset?

And yea yours looks normal, but the grass is still really dark compared to the other mayday release I have. Weird...

Maybe that has to do with the temps of the biome you embark on? I dunno

Ill try extracting it again and messing around with it to see if I can get it looking normal for me.

I've just thought of something else that might have caused it...

Did you generate this world using your old tileset/GFX pack, and then try to load it with the Mayday pack? If so, you need to copy the graphics files from DF/raw/graphics into DF/data/save/regionX/raw. Each save maintains its own copy of the tileset, and you need to swap them into old saves if you are porting from one tileset to another.

The usual procedure is to just generate a new world after you make changes to your files.

You shouldn't have to do ANYTHING after extracting those files... just generate a world and play. Weird.

EDIT: it looks like your DF/data/art/mayday.png isn't being loaded... it's the one with all the reee images on it. This is very odd.

Yea this is weird. Took another screenshot after extracting it and running it, touching nothing and changing nothing. Still the same.



I started up, hit create new world and let it generate. I havent imported anything, this is a brand new world.

This is truly strange. IT IS loading something because the dwarfs look just fine, its just the trees and other things look odd or are using the wrong graphic.

Yeah, something seems to be preventing Mayday.png from loading properly... I downloaded the file myself, and got the same result as you.

My original install still works fine, though. This is really odd.
