Sometimes the auto render fat for the kitchens freezes up. Always pays to double check the stock screen under glob. Look at the bright side, once you get the mess rendered, your soap makers will become quite busy.

For over 150,000 fat? He'd have to kill tens of thousands of the thieving bastards :P (I don't know exact figures, but since the wiki says you get 6 fat and I'm too tired and lazy to scour through the raws to find anything a bit more concrete, it's about 25,500 monkeys needed for that amount of fat)

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

At a guess, something happened to make macaques roughly Kong-sized (by which I mean the Toho Kong). Have you been monkeying around with the raws lately?

clearly that fat would be better used to fill a swimming pool than made into soap.  A swimming pool you could drown elves in.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Soap bars can be used for buildings. I suggest a nice tower. Or perhaps soap bedrooms.

This is a feature, not a bug, correct?
You're playing Dwarf Fortress.  There isn't much of a distinction.

Wait, doesn't just having soap bars in your stockpile cause problems because of a bug?

On another note, soap making requires wood. So using all that fat for soap making would require cutting down 150.000 trees. Now talk about pissing off elves.  8)

Okay, this is now officially really weird.

Because the exact same thing (huge 100k-ish value coming out of nowhere) just happened to, of all places, Stanford University.

If it's in a stockpile then it won't rot, although yeah 10 (or 30, or whatever) kitchens would be nice to get it all cooked.

fat (and I believe tallow but not 100% sure) never rots, even if it's laying around on the floor or stuck inside the butcher shop.

I set my food stockpiles to not accept fat so it stays in the butcher shop closer to the kitchen and the cook has to run back and forth less. Never had a problem.

Well, you know what to do. Build a huge Rhesus Macaque statue out of Rhesus Macaque soap.
