Embarking on Settlements
« on: October 04, 2010, 05:10:49 pm »

I'm playing one of the newer versions of DF (0.31.15) and it seems that it is no longer possible to embark on settlements. Has the feature been removed? Just to clarify, I am using the umkh keys to navigate the local view but the embark command grays out whenever I overlap one of the settlement's tiles.

I'll be eagerly awaiting replies  ;)

Thanks in advance.

I think the option has been removed.

I still use .12 so I don't know for sure though.

The option was removed.
There isn't much to find there, anyway.

too bad, It makes sense both in-game and meta-gameing. ingame it's a way for both species to profit off each other, meta-game, meatshields.

There's been a fair bit of discussion about some form of tenancy/land siezure type thing, which may interest you.

Ah, fudge it. Maybe I'll look for some mods at a later date. For now, Urist McHumanlover will just need to be content with the occasional human caravan.

Thanks for being so quick to reply dudes :D

My thoughts exactly.

I tried this once in .12 and it eventually crashed on me. I'm okay with it being disabled. "Friendly" creatures don't really have the AI to deal with dwarfs encroaching on their land, and I doubt the world map knows how to handle having two civilizations in the same place.
