I'd just like to say that there are some people that enjoy adventure mode a great deal and think the new updates kick ass, since even the defenders are taking a "we just have to put up with it for now" stance. I can't wait to try out the new night creature and quest stuff.

I came here when I read about df on Spiegel Online (major german news site). They had a special on retro styled games.

Whee! New adventure mode goodness!! I enjoy it even in its currently broken state, but all of this new stull is just plain awesome. The best thing for me is the new travel map - I will finally be able to see where I'm going.

Embarked on a haunted volcano. I am currently terrorized by skeletal alligators.

Woah woah, new combat features is THE thing missing from current unarmed (and armed) fighting: coup de grace to quickly get the fight over with once the opponent loses consciousness.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

Wow. The Spiegel just improved my current opinion of it by 200%.

It's scary when you first realize Dwarf Fortress is only 30% of the way done.

One of the most complicated games ever... and it's not even at the halfway mark. This is both awesome, and scary.

Matrix with ASCII graphics, which is singleplayer only  :)

Well technically, the Matrix is text-based, and even without color variation. The jacking in part is only an interface mod - the Matrix-equivalent of StoneSense, basically :p

I'd be just like the real world except Goblins in shades and suits will steal your children.  And they'll all be named Mister Smithgluk.

Any clues to when 3.17 will be up, my reclaimed fortress is annoying me.

I dunno when, but it will most likely focus on adventure mode. Your fortress won't be that different.
