What do you mean, no seeds available?
« on: October 03, 2010, 09:44:54 pm »

Aboveground farm. I have lots of seeds and wild strawberries. How do I have no seeds available at that location.

Red sand. Reclaim fort.

I heard someone else report the same thing, but just yesterday I played a reclaim fort in .14 and was able to make new above ground farms - by chance did you reclaim the above ground farms from the previous fort, or are you making new ones?

Reclaimed the above ground farms. They didn't work. I ripped them out. Made new ones. New ones don't work either.

The newest one, .15.

How do I fix this so my dwarves can survive?

Since .15 seems a bit borked speed-wise (and .13/.14 for other reasons) I've been genning the world in .12 and importing to .14 and playing there, under those circumstances at least it works.  You might try copying your save to .14 and running df_savegame_updater.bat, and see if that works on reclaim.  It occurs to me that the type of soil layer might be a factor, the way it is for how underground cavern plants will grow on some types of soil layers but not others.

I had wild strawberries growing rather famously down there beforehand.

Yeah in the reclaim game I mentioned earlier I had a couple of above ground farms growing 6 kinds of crops including wild strawberries, it isn't specific to those.  I'm sure it's either a bug in .15, or that different soil layer types don't behave the same on reclaim.  I don't remember the top soil layer type exactly in my earlier game but I do recall that it wasn't sand.

There has to be some workaround for this.
