Kennel problems
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:17:07 pm »

I have a problem that is very annoying. Basically, I have lots of dogs, so I want to make some use of them and train them to be war dogs. Well, it's not working, my trainer keeps cancelling because, according to him, there are no creatures. What is causing this? My dogs are not in cages. I even have a Giant Jaguar I want to tame, the same "No creature" problem is there.
I'm certain there is something I'm doing wrong, but I have no idea what it is, I even thought that it might be because they are pets, but I really doubt that.

Are they pets?

I had this same problem, I think it's a glitch since I genned another world and the Kennel worked fine.

Pet animals can't be trained.

I have tame animals that I bought from elves.  Cougars, jaguars, wolves, and even an elephant.  They don't show up in the animal menu.  How can I enable them to be pets?

Dungeon Masters, who specialize in training exotic pets, are borked in .14.

If you move the [PET_EXOTIC] tag in the raws, this alleviates the need for a DM. You won't be able to train them into war animals without the [CAN_LEARN] tag I think?

I'm pretty sure there's another tag for training war animals, [CAN_LEARN] means they can level skills. (Like if a baby-snatcher hangs out in your danger room for a bit and is suddenly a legendary dodger when you try to kill it) I'm looking at the raws now, and I'd guess it'd be [TRAINABLE]. Anyway, do your dogs have owners/names? If they do, all they're good for is breeding.

I'm pretty sure that the animals you want to train are not in a cage. I usually stick every single animal in one cage and forget to let some dogs out before trying to train some.

The animals you want to train must not be
a) In cages
b) Assigned to rope or chain
c) unable to path (and I think reach as well) the kennel.
