Dwarven Caviar
« on: October 02, 2010, 09:17:19 pm »

So, using only embark-accessible objects and overland plants (minus sun berries and the evil stuff), what three ingrediants would make the most expensive meals?

I have three legendary cooks, and I wanna make the million-dollar-burger.

for the single largest stack by value would be a meal of four stacks of quarry bush leaves i would guess, since the stack size gets obscene.  For value per meal, i know the highest value flower is whip vine flour, and that is grown relatively easily above ground.  Cheese is also very valuable.  Meat from rare creatures is also quite valuable, but not exactly mass producable unless you get a unicorn breeding operation going.

Hmm.  Whip Vine Flour, Quarry Bush, and Cheese.  Which is worth more in a meal?  I'll maximize on that.  =)

You could always mod in caviar, couldn't you just add it to sturgeon?

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

do remember that quantity is just as important as quality. I just got a stack of 280 +elephant meat roast+ that go for 25200. The ingredients are just elephant stuff and dog stuff. Maximizing said meal with boozecooking would definitely go with sunberries (25b), whip vines(15b) and one of the underground wine(commonly liked, 10b). Wait, you dont like sunberries, then that'd be 2 underground wine.

As for the absolutely best meal ever per serving, dragon roast.

So just embark in a Good area, keep gathering plants until you have a lot of Sunberry seeds, forbid all but Sunshine from cookery and get cookin'.

a roast woth

was made.
yes that was 40d so now with larger meat stacks beating it should be easy.

hydras Meat 130-459 a ten times value
Sea serpents Meat     104-412 at 5 times value
Elephant Meat     36-190 5 times value.

use elephant meat as a base due to elfs helping you.

this still work? http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=43208.0

Theoritically, them most expensive meal you could make would be some expensive solid ingredient (maybe a titanic stack of elephant meat?) cooked with 90 units of sunshine (technically possible- with a legendary planter and fertilized fields, you can occasionally but rarely get stacks of 6 plants from a single tile. You'd have to get three stacks of six sunberries, then turn them all into sunshine, then take those three barrels and cook them with some solid ingredient.)

Addendum: This is considering you discount bugs, of course.

Dragon meat is worth 50, IIRC. Not sure how large the stack is, but a fully grown dragon is one of the biggest creatures in the game.

If I'm reading the Raws correctly:
1) each unit of "Dragon" is worth 15 units of "Whale" in value.
2) the Size of a Newborn Whale is only 200% that of a Newborn Dragon.
3) the Size of an Adult (10yo) Whale is only 80% that of an Adult (1000yo) Dragon
4) the Size of an Adult (4yo) Whale is 5000% of that of a Newborn Dragon, or 40% of an Adult Dragon.

So, assuming the values I checked actually affect the amount of Material obtained, Adult Whale (4+yo) beats Newborn Dragon like a drum, But Adult Dragons are Teh w1N. (333% vs 1,875% value).

Edit: Also assuming I didn't screw the pooch on the math (yeah, that makes 3 times I've made an ASS of yoU and uMPTION in one post, sue me  :P).

I wasn't talking about value, I was just thinking pure bulk
so in theory could you have a stack of 2800 Whale meat roast? O.o

Elephant meat/dwarven syrup seems to come out pretty consistently high, although I think it's four ingredients for a lavish meal.

Im pretty sure pant extracts and such come out a lot more valuable than booze, so its probably better to use dwarf syrup instead of sunshine (which is just pansy elf drink anyway!)

Also butchering FBs can yield some insane amouths of meat. If we disregard value and just go for the worlds largest burger then cooking 4 fat FBs could be a good one.
