Dungeon Crawl
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:46:34 pm »

Here's how it works: one player makes a fortress with some sort of goal at the end, with the intent of making it extremely difficult to reach, but not impossible. Another player makes a start now adventurer, and attempts to make it to the end and out again without dying or being fatally wounded. (infection doesn't count).

here's mine: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3209 . two hints: 1. "This doesn't seem like such a good idea" "Bottoms up!"

Rules-
       General-
                Adventurer traps must be off.
       Builder-
No making anything truly impossible- repeater linked bridges on a 50 tile path over a deep pit are a no.
The goal cannot be located in HFS- this sort of links in to the no impossible tasks rule
Speed:0, no eat, no sleep, and no drink are allowed, but raw files must be back to normal before you upload.
If a gauntlet would otherwise include an element of randomness, e.g. having to pull one of two levers, one kills you, the other opens a path, then please provide a clue of some sort.
       Adventurer-
No armor above bronze, and no training beforehand
No modifying any game files other than art files
It's preferable, but not required, that you add screenshots to prove it.

Please post if you're interested.

I LIEK IT!

The problem is that you will only have to deal with puzzles. No reliable enemies, no (real) traps.

Albeit a deathtrap can still be made,  but no reliable monsters will permeate the dungeon like in a normal crawl.

It's not so much a fortress as a puzzle, but its a bit north of there.

I feel a bit stupid, but I need another hint... I've looked everywhere to the north of the wagon and I'm being chased by sasquatches!

I got away from the sasquatches just to be eaten by a pack of wolves... I found some tunnels to the east of the wagon, but they were of little interest. Is the fortress' name Boatfocus?

I have been thinking about doing something like this myself, using each of the three caverns like checkpoints for the Adventurer to find the next gate house to the next level while having either the monsters of the Cavern to deal with/my choice of critters released when the gatehouse to that cavern is opened via lever/clever little puzzle within the limits of the game...

Though that last one needs to be verified on how long an adventure can hold his breath underwater, are they able to regain their full breath by popping up through a small opening about the water channels and how many tiles at each level of swimming an adventure can travel...

I don't remember the name, sorry... were the tunnels channels that led into 1x25 or so passageways? if so, then the entrance is to the southwest.

And this is .14, but it should work for any later version.
