14/15; atheist raised by atheists raised in turn by heavily christian grandparents. "Which one of these preachers participated in the period of religious activity known as the First Great Awakening?" got me :\

Yeah, I missed that one and the Jewish sabbath one (which I wasn't QUITE sure about, being torn between Friday and Saturday).

since when is it not permitted to lead a class in prayer? Thanks Supreme Court, you dicks.
It's that whole "Establishment Clause" thing. You know, the one where government entities aren't supposed to force religion on people.
I guess I can understand the not forcing; but still, no permission? Are we really THAT sensitive (like "nice guy" sensitive) a culture?
Yes. Because it can get really really uncomfortable for children in more religious families to be, not forced but when you are eight and a teacher asks you to it is the same thing, to pray.

I suppose that makes plenty of sense as well. Then religious faith should at least be kept as a responsibility for the family then; but even so, I've noticed that even that kind of practice is wearing thin in households, regardless of faith.

I wonder what it would take for any, or all, religions to get as wake-up call? Be it natural, supernatural, or outright cataclysmic.

Bear in mind that it's frequently ignored by many a football coach.  Most of the places in the country that would even want class prayers just do it anyway, because there's nobody around to complain.

Itnetlolor: It's not as if children themselves can't pray if they want to, but a teacher making it a classtime activity is forcing it on them. As an irreligious person, I've been to plenty of places/events where praying was expected in some form, and that's embarrassing now, never mind when I was in school.

12/15 as Buddhist raised by not really pious Christians.

As filthy European I failed at the US-specific questions :P

This applies to public schools only, and they can get away with having a 2 minute moment of silence.

That sabbath one got us all, huh?
It was a nasty trick question, since the sabbath starts Friday evening and then goes on throughout Saturday (so if you have a Jewish friend they'd probably regard Saturday as the sabbath).

And a round of prayer is akward if you don't believe in God.  And possibly against your religion if you aren't Christian.

14/15, and as a non-US citizen I simply guessed on the Supreme Court questions (picked the answers that with the most common sense.)
The answer made wrong was on "the Great Awakening", since I don't even know what that is. Even if it is what I think it is (the American counterpart to the period Swedes calls "the wakening"), we Swedes don't usually "idolize" leaders of such movements enough to care to remember individual people - even less the American ones.
So over all, it was a nice result, I think. Oh, and I'm an atheist/agnostic, raised by not-actively Christians, raised by semi-actively/religious Christians.

10/15 as an atheist. I guessed a few but I knew Martin Luther (hooray for Total War).
