Generally, most weapons are .5 scrap each (Not counting any new weapons on the market.) non vintage hats go for 2-3 refined (Unless they're new of course.), Vintage hats can go from 4-6 refined. So even if you have a bad hat that goes for 2 refined, you could get 328 weapons for that. Of course no one is going to give you 328 weapons for the hat, so its better to trade it into metal

Just remember, all of the items from the update (minus perhaps the scout flip flops etc) will be droppable/craftable as soon as the sale ends, so they will lose some of the value that they have at the moment...

Even the flip flops will. That's Valve's entire thing. Buy it and have a special version now, or craft it later.
