General business sims?
« on: October 01, 2010, 07:44:03 pm »

So are there any other games similar in vein to Wall $treet Raider and Capitalism/2?

I can't seem to find anything good that is offline and I don't have the patience for online ones.  :-\

not really the same as those two, but you might want to give a try to similar-themed games (transport tycoon, patrician III...)

huh? Wall-street sims are ladylike now? Anways, he isn't looking for a drug-wars style stock-flipping game, but rather a more involved game of running a business (Capitalism deals with building a resource empire from the logging camp to the supermarket, and raider deals with hostile takeovers).

Just about every "pick up and deliver" tycoonish game is a business sim. Monopoly Tycoon, Freight Tycoon, etc.

Umm it's kind of old and maybe not what you're looking for, but I remember Entrepreneur was kind of neat. I dunno if there are sequels that are newer.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Yeah... kinda trying to avoid the tycoon games.

Tycoon games are a dime a dozen. Played a lot of them and most of them suck pretty bad, y'know?

Transport Tycoon Deluxe is pretty good, make sure you get OTTD though.

Freight Tycoon was released by 1C and the games they publish can be interesting. Different feel, sometimes.

Fairygodmother isn't a dime a dozen Tycoon game...

It just sucks and oddly enough when you think about it, it is a puzzle/strategy game and not a buisness simulation since defeating your opponent actually relies on using special units to draw customers away from your opponent.

I remember some business orientated game discussed in here about a year ago. Your deceased father or whoever gave you a small fortune and you had to start out small buying a factory or something and it was extremely indepth to the point where you had to design the manufacturing floor and things.

God help me if I can remember what it was called, though.
