I can see one potentially (depending on your play style) bad thing about the moving water based wading pools: 2/7 flowing water pushes babies out of mothers' arms. And we all know babies don't wear clothes, so any evil extracts/dusts/bloods will kill almost all babies that go through.

Those that survive, however, are the chosen ones and deserve to grow up. Eugenics! GO!

How about a two-level pump stack set so that the water... It would be easier with a picture.

Just make sure your dwarves are all wearing shoes so contaminents getting dumped on the grates won't be an issue for future bathers.

Now this is a design I really want to try, but could you explain what shoes have to do with anything?

You don't want your dwarves picking up eash others' contaminants, do you?

Do shoes really have any effect on this?  sure the contaminants might not touch skin (is this what you're getting at?), but a dwarf with boots on is going to track blood and grime around the same as a barefoot dwarf, I would think.
Contaminants on clothing don't achieve skin contact while the item is being worn. If they take the shoes off and put them back on before washing them again there could be a problem but the blood n such might come right back off the shoes while they are in the water.

If the source of water is dynamic, add a dry path with gates but set traffic preference through the pond, so pathing is not broken if water levels become too high.

I wonder, what would they do if someone killed their king.
Inevitable, who cares. Now an onion...
