Do I stand a chance against a mountain titan?
« on: September 30, 2010, 04:35:05 pm »

I was mindin' my own business(Constructing a multi z-level execution tower) when a mountain titan ambles into my peaceful abode.
"A huge viper composed of coral. It has an enormous shell and it moves about carelessly. Beware its poisonous bite!"

How many axedwarves do you have?

How good are they?

How many civilians do you have?

13 people in all. 2 are swordsmen. They have steel stuff, with adequate fighter, proficient swordsman, and (Rank 3) shield user. Also, it uses a push attack.

Ooooh, that's going to be a tough one. Solid inorganic. Fortunately coral is kinda weak and it doesn't have any AoE so a full squad of axedwarves should be able to take it down.

I have no axes.
I can forge some, but I have no axedwarves.
I'm hoping my tin bridge can keep it at bay.
CURRENT STATUS:Sealed it in the tower. My hatch was well played.

With only 13 dwarfs, I'd go with a cave-in.
You're bound to lose a bunch to the poison.

Wait, you only have 13 dorfs?

Oh yeah you better draft them all and give them axes. Unless it's particularly small, even if it's not using its bite, two mid-skilled swordsdwarves aren't going to do much against that thing unless you get lucky.

But yeah, keeping it on the other side of a raised bridge is probably your best idea for now.

I've managed to seal my fortress off from the outside.
Unfortunately, that also includes sealing off my temporary uncut gem stockpile.
I have everything necessary to survive. I guess I should wait for a caravan.

And now the pages of chipped bone I encountered in my time playing adventure mode come flooding back...

Okay.
Apart from the cancellation spam from seeing the giant snake,(Whose name is Ica Berryclam The Deep Cavern) fortress life is going smooth.
I still need a new depot, though.

Full steel should be more than strong enough to withstand the poisonous bite. Since material beasts have been nerfed, they should be killable by simply slicing it enough. Send only your warriors out to fight it. It should be enough. Given the way materials work, all non-metals are incredibly feeble compared to metals.
