My fort I just made a few days ago...

Amazing area; a giant gorge I planned on building a magnificent bridge across!

...

Buzzards... everywhere.

I've never seen so many stolen food messages before...

Embarked on a river
Strike the earth!

A dwarf has drowned.
A dwarf has drowned.
A dwarf has drowned.

Though not technically my fault in this first place but the caravan was placed on top of a frozen pool. I didnt notice because it was underneath it and forgot all about it. The ice melted and the caravan along with all my stuff and the few hapless dwarves who were drinking booze at the time fell in and drowned

If adamantine is perfectly rigid, as shown by having 0 strain at fracture in the raw files, then the speed of sound in the metal approaches the speed of light. Adamantine musical instruments would produce ultrasonic vibrations, and cut off the fingers of the musician.

My two shortest forts:

-Embark in an area with a volcano. The volcano was open at the bottom into a cavern with lots of water. The magma flowed into the underground lake causing non-stop "a section of the cavern has collapsed" for 20mins. Then one of those cave-ins released the clowns.

-embark in an evil badlands. A Nightwing immediately descends upon my wagon. Dwarfs didn't even get the chance to pick up their pick-axes.

'Twas the gator that got my dorfs.

Actually, the gator only got one of my dorfs - bit the leg off the first one to hop down from the wagon.  My miner and my leader jumped down and started wailing on the thing.  They didn't hurt it, but chased it off into the wilds.  Meantime, my wood chopper went berzerk at the site of the blood and started hacking up the three dorfs left by the wagon.  The unarmed dorfs put up a fight, my miner returned to late to help, but watched as they forced the psycho to dodge into the river where he drowned.  Two of the defenders died of their wounds a second or two later.  My poor miner broke down against the wagon, catatonic.  Meantime, the fisherman survived unscathed, and went to work procuring some supper.

When the expedition leader returned from the chase he found a three bloody corpses, Rain Man the miner, and no sign of his woodsman.  All he found was his fisherman sitting calmly by the river, whiling away the afternoon with his pole in the water.

All within about ten seconds of embark.  Fun.

I genned a bugged world where some areas had all of the layers above
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
removed.  I had read a rumor that it was around these areas that
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
form, so I was embarking in random areas to try to find one.  I didn't find any.  Mostly just sites that would crash my computer.  But I finally found one that worked........sort of worked anyways.

You know how sometimes you get the collapse message just after embark?  Well this particular message was from 120 z-levels into the sky.  Which also happened to be where my dwarves spawned.  The game didn't last long.

Dwarf fortress, eh.  Haven't played that in a while.

-generate world-
-select embark site-
-prepare for the journey carefuly-

Hmm, now what was the key to view dwarf info?

-try the 'e' key-

WAIT NO NOT THE... too late.  Seven peasants with a default loadout.  Technically I could have used them but fffffffffuck that.

Shortest fort in 0.31.18;

Landed on an island, where I could search for adamantine in peace. Aquifer present, thought I could deal with it.
First attempt to breach aquifer knocked back a miner and broker, breaking several bones. Spent some time making a hospital and the second aquifer breacher.
Second aquifer breacher failed. Injured miner is still in hospital and is thirsty. Salt water all over the place, and due to poor planning I lacked the material needed to build a well.
Third aquifer breacher failed. Miner dies of thirst. Ragequit before the end of Spring.

Thankfully my second fort on the same island learned from the previous mistakes.

World built yesterday.  Embarked ona  beatiful site with river, flux and volcano.

Embarked, and got stuck at <1FPS as the 100+ z level unconfined magma column sticking up next to the adamantine spire started collapsing and covering everything.  Awesome but so so broken.

Nightwing.

My sole trained grunt got a couple of good hits in before going splat. I drafted the others, but it quickly took one out then shook another to death with his shirt. It then beat the others to death. With the shirt.
