Dwarf fortress music.
« on: September 30, 2010, 03:14:15 am »

I was thinking that if DF got turned into a movie, communist russian orchestras would be playing in the background. I mean, I work hard to keep my dwarves in a anarcho communist state. Of course they pay for their continued existence by pumping out obsidian goods with noble bones mixed in.

I would have thought the lack of a solid storyline to be slightly detracting from a Dwarf Fortress movie.

The least you could have done was throw down some booze and seasoning. Abyssal Monsters that Creatures of the Light Know Not Of aren't savages, y'know. Sharing's caring.

In a world not unlike our own...

Seven dwarves strike the earth for fame and riches...

For the glory of the Mountainhome...

But when winter sets in...

The nightmare begins.

This summer, from the creative mind that brought you Saving Private Everyone, Libertarian Civil Disobedience Brigade, Journey of the Kobold, and ARMOK: The Musical comes...

Dwarven Citadel: Wrath of the Hemoglobin Deity's Revenge: The Return of the Redemption: Legends of Ships and Slaughter.

Hm, on second thought - with John Rhys-Davies as Miner Dwarf, Jason Statham as Farmer, Ron Perlman as Ettin ... ^^
OTOH Kristanna Loken with a long beard ... I don't think so. ;)

The idea of Dwarf Fortress's insane violence and unrelenting cruelty being translated to live action makes me piss myself out of fear and excitement at the same time.

O' course, I'd like the soundtrack to be composed mostly of the DF background music played by a live symphony orchestra. With the occasional electric guitar solo complete with ominous latin chanting:D

Think of it like Sim City, except with rival mayors that seek to destroy your citizens by arming legions of homeless people and sending them to attack you.

Personally, I can't think of any director better-equipped to capture the spirit of the game.

Or at least the spirit of the game as it's generally played; I'm not sure the kind of thing we regard as "TRUE DORF!" are quite what Toady had in mind when he started out...
Logged
Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

Black Powder Firearms - Superior firepower, realistic manufacturing and rocket launchers!
