Journal for 9th Malachite

the spring passed without any major issues, the summer is continuing in the same way i have decided that my next project will be a dining room to replace the cramped smelly one we are currently forced to endure. so far the floor and ceiling are coming along nicely.

still this complete lack of goblin activity has me worried i sure hope they aren't planning a siege.

Journal for 12th Malachite
So much for a peaceful summer, people working on the tower saw an enormous bronze statue tearing through the forest to the north. Luckily we had been testing our fortress defenses and the lever that controls the draw bridge had been pulled leaving no way for the colossus to enter.

Just the massive bridge over the river with the Dwarven word for Granitepartners emblazoned on top for the world to see.

And they shouldn't be smitable anyway, they're made of walls, not supports; plus even if the colossus destroyed all of them, the bridge would stay standing due to the terrible, awful physics in 3-dimensional Dwarf Fortress amazing Dwarven engineering.

Well, say good bye to that.  D:

Hopefully he'll just wander off after destroying all your hard work.  Or get caved in and die.

Oh!  I thought you literately meant supports.  Walls will be fine, they can't be destroyed.  All constructions are immune to everything like that.  *phews*

I guess Grael made it so my bridge is the only way in or out for non-flyers/swimmers. This pleases me immensely.

Supports won't be targetted by building destroyers

Really?  I thought that Building Destroyer 1 couldn't, but I think Bronze Collususes (how...  do I spell that correctly?) are 2, so they can take them out.  The wiki suggests supports as anti-building destroyer traps, via controlled caveins.

I can definately see the logic in building destroyers ignoring supports. The only things in the game right now that are built on supports are pretty much meant to collapse. But even if we had realistic cave-ins like in the 2D version, it'd be suicide for the creature.

Maybe someday there'll be a creature with a ranged building destroyer attack, and also realistic cave-ins. Then they could cause some real havoc.

16th Galena
These human traders obviously haven't heard of our wall and have appeared on the western horizon, damn we need to build a bridge to cross the ditch. By Omer's beard these humans are thick, well at least they wont be getting slaughtered by the colossus.

that colossus just stands outside the walls shouting and smashing trees but even though we are safely inside and several stories up several masons have decided that the mere sight of the statue is too terrifying, even my dear Edzul was too scared to finish constructing the floor she was assigned. If only we could rid ourselves of this terrible nuisance.

24th Galena
two goblin ambushes followed the humans across the small bridge i had the carpenters build to allow them across the ditch thank Omer i had our tiny military defending the bridge, the invading goblins were cut to pieces and we lost only one planter who was gathering berries.

another casualty, a suturer who was trying to strip the goblins corpses of valuables, serves him right the greedy bastard.

one of our axesdwarves also decided to name his battle Axe the magichills, well as long as he keeps killing goblins with it i don't care how "attached" he is to that axe.
